So my brother was strapped for some cash and asked if I wanted to buy his Springfield XDm 9mm. my collection is a little weak in the handgun section and I needed a better carry piece. Xd wasn't my first choice but I figured I'd help him/me out. The gun is brand new with maybe 10 rounds through it and I thought I was getting a mid tier firearm for a good price. The first thing I noticed is the holster than comes with it isn't even useable. The gun rattles around in it and if you sneezed it would for sure fall out. Why the hell do they even give you this? Next is the trigger. This thing is terrible. Shittier than my 1857 French musket converted to a shotgun 150 years ago. I mean FAR worse than my HIGHPOINT C9(no exaggeration). Worse than anything I have ever pulled and I own some old shitty firearms. Anyone else out there disappointed with their XD specifically the XDm? I feel bad for anyone who paid full price for this POS. Looks like tonight I'll be parts shopping. So much for a cheap carry piece. |

I have a number of XD pistols, all in .40. No XDms yet, but I was considering a XDs 9 to replace my XD 40 SC for carry.
If you don't like the trigger, you can check out Springer Precision. A friend upgraded some trigger parts with theirs and it was an improvement- I may wind up buying a couple kits for mine. |

Quoted: Most people don't like the included holsters. Not exactly top tier. As far as the trigger goes either yours is borked or you're just hatin! XDs have pretty good stock triggers. I prefer my XD triggers over my Glock trigger. IMO |

My XDm's (XDm9c 3.8" and XDm9 5.25" Competition model) have PRP triggers on them. I like it much better, but I wouldn't say stock was "bad". My XDs (new, already had recall fix) has a sloppy heavy trigger, but I don't mind so much, long range accuracy is not it's purpose. The XDs stock was WORLDS worse than the either of the XDm pistols in stock form.
The included holster is range holster, that's it. Something to safely carry it around at the range. Want a duty holster, go buy one. I carry my 3.8" 9mm XDm it with an IWB Kramer holster and it's very comfortable. I carry it 13+1 with a spare 19 rnd mag iwb on my weakside, really balances the load on the belt to have something on both sides imho (good double thick leather belt is a must, but I'd say that about any pistol bigger than a carry .380). |

Seems like a troll thread
If the trigger is truly that bad - something is wrong with the gun or your just ....well ..."special" I own XDm , Glock , and M&P ( I wanted to try all them all myself ) . I thought of my sampling of pistols for straight out the box , the pistol was as good off better than anything else. Holster is free , but in case you didn't notice - both holster and mag pouches are adjustable . Not a fancy rig , but beats stuffing in your pants Based on your rant - I would suggest selling it and buying another hi point or whatever However since you bought it used , perhaps it was abused or worse yet , somebody did a do it yourself trigger job before you got it - either way stick the gun in another shooters hands ( hopefully with some experience ) if it seems like something is wrong send it back to Springfield |

The XDm slide is shaped differently than the XD slides are, so if you are putting the gun into a holster designed for the XD it's going to be a little loose.
I can't imagine the trigger being that bad on an XDm 9mm unless the previous owner changed out some parts. All of my XD triggers tend to the mushy side as opposed to the rough side. What do you define as a "cheap carry piece" ? I bet there are several here who would take it off your hands if it really came "Cheap", especially for an XDm. Can you be more specific about what is terrible about the trigger? |

As someone that admittedly does not own an XD, but shoots a lot of handgun competitions as well as being an RO (and therefore watching a lot of people shoot), here's my take:
They seem to shoot very nicely and (in my limited experience) seem to be very accurate. They seem to manage recoil very well and are pretty easy to shoot well. I give the edge to the M&P in this regard, but it's close. I see a lot more of them choke and have failures than I do with M&P's and Glocks... However, this might be due to the fact that damn near every one on the line has been extensively modded out with aftermarket parts, so take that with a big grain of salt and not an indictment of the firearm itself. Some of the aftermarket triggers are insanely nice... Like glassy. Seriously, they feel like they're on ball-bearings. Honestly, I can only remember shooting one or two with the stock trigger. If I remember correctly, it seemed better than a stock M&P (but not by much), but not as nice as a Glock. The guys that shoot them regularly seem to really love them. I prefer M&P's. |

I agree with the above, put a Powder River ultimate or extreme drop in trigger kit in it. It might need some minor fitting, but it should take about half an hour to replace. The ultimate gets the trigger pull down to about 2.5ish pounds, or it did on mine. The extreme has skeletonized sear and disconnect plus it also changes out the striker spring and striker.
The stock holster is crap if you're wanting to carry it anywhere other than the range. Springer Precision and Powder River Precision are two great companies that produce aftermarket accessories for the XDM line, not saying that the others like Canyon Creek or Dawson, etc. don't make nice accessories for it as well, just that mine has parts from SP and PRP. |

The holster is worth what you paid for it: nothing.
The triggers on those guns tend to be pretty good. I suspect that it's got a lot of crud in the action and that's interfering with the action. Take it to a competent gunsmith and have it THOROUGHLY cleaned. Explain the problem and show him the action. Tell him that you want it cleaned before you'll contemplate any modifications. If he's honest, he'll do it and you'll probably be impressed by the improvement. |

Odd.
The shitty paddle holster has an retention adjustment screw. A little allen wrench would have shipped with the pistol. The XDm is known for having a decent trigger for a striker fired gun. The reset is a bit long; noticeably longer than a stock glock. They are over-priced. Part of the reason, I think, they through so much shit in the case; to make you feel like you are getting a good value. Grip safeties are full of fail and aids. |

Planned on upgrading. Only looked at it for a second and didn't notice it was adjustable. The gun is new. My brother bought it new and said he put 10 rounds through it. It doesn't look like it was even fired. As for experience I'm not tier 1 but I've shoot 100s of weapons and more rounds than I could count. Again these are observations from opening the case. Checking it out and some dry fires. I will give the weapon a full tear down and workout this weekend. Sorry to offend you with my nonsense.

Call Springfield Armory, one thing you get with an XDm is some of the best customer service out there. They should get it fixed for you. Do this. You're either exaggerating for effect or there is actually something wrong with your gun that they will fix. My XD45 has a great trigger (especially after being broken in) and the XDm line has an even better trigger than the XD from the get-go. |

It is an excellent $200 Croatian copy of the Glock.
It is not worth the extra $400 to have Springfield Armoy stamp their name on the side of a gun they don't make. The shit holster and mag carrier are not worth the extra $400 either. The gun is good and does it's job. But it is what it is. |

No, because I own a lot of handguns and there's nothing wrong with my XDM. It's a POS because it doesn't have a tuned 1911 trigger, and the freebie holster isn't a Blade-Tech, etc? If you think the trigger is "worse than any thing I have ever pulled" than you should probably shoot more.

First off, on the holster you will see an allen head screw. Tighten that up some. Your holster can be adjusted to make it snug. Mine doesn't rattle and won't slip out if you tipped it upside down. Better holsters are out there, but I use the stock one for USPSA. The trigger on mine is decent. Did he do anything to it? Is there an obvious bent spring or something? It has a longer, harder pull than say a 1911, but IMHO it is much better than the stock Glock trigger. I put a Springer Precision kit in mine and really like it. I bought mine, a bi-tone 9mm 4.5 in barrel used. I've put probably 1000 rounds through it and haven't had a FTF or FTE. The only hiccup was an improperly trimmed round that was a hair too long, allowing it to feed, but hot fully close the slide, thus not fire. |
