Right now I'm logged on through the direct IP Address 209.251.48.101. My cell service is Tmobile and I have been having DNS errors while trying to go to the website. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? If I go to AR15.COM, I get a DNS error. If I go to http://209.251.48.101 I'm fine.

Quoted: Is it just ar15.com? You can try turning your phone completely off for a few minutes, in the hopes you'll be assigned a different DNS when you turn it back on. What phone do you have? Yes, just Arfcom. Galaxy S5 I go try turning it on and off, airplane mode etc... the weird thing is that this is an ongoing problem but it isn't constant. Earlier today I was surfing and all was good. Right now I'm on through the IP address.

| My Sprint iPotato 5 keeps displaying a "unable to find server" error when I try to get on Arfcom for about the last 3 weeks. Happens about every 15 refreshes or so and usually locks me out for 5-10 minutes. It only affects Arfcom; I can still get to other sites. |

It'll need to be longer than just off and then back on, to ensure you're forced a new ip. It may not work even then. Ideally you should turn it off, travel far enough to be covered by a new tower, and then turn it back on.
Is your phone rooted? If so, you can set the DNS server manually. http://www.cultofandroid.com/22625/how-to-use-google-dns-or-opendns-on-your-android-device-how-to/ ETA: honestly the ability to use your DNS of choice might be one of the best reasons to root your android phone, if you haven't already. |
| I'm no DNS guru but your phone is a client. There isn't much that it can do to fix a DNS issue on the client side. If the phone stores DNS records you could try flushing that, not sure if you can even. (Those are the only steps I perform on client side.) The route your going through using the hostname is fuggered on a piece of tMobile gear. Bad DNS records. I'm pretty sure they would have to do something on their equipment to correct the issue. |
