no beans, definitely better than Hormel

I've never had canned chili of any brand that was worth a crap.  I think most companies go too heavy on the cheap meat, fillers, and texture modifiers to make it not taste shitty.

The Turkey chili is decent if you add something like Tiger Sauce to it for added flavor.

Agree!  Wolf > Hormel

I can't find many brands out there for canned chili that rival Wolf.
8/19/2014 6:56:42 AM EDT
[#4]
Canned=fail, even if they do manage to produce a variety or two correctly without beans.

I like Wolf chili, it's a little thin but it's good on a hotdog.

I thought this was gonna be about making chili from canids.

Once I did a bunch of painting in the Hormel factory here, I never thought about their chili the same way again. The smell is still stuck in my brain.

Just polished some Frito chili pie made with Wolf brand chili. It's what's for breakfast.
8/19/2014 7:10:29 AM EDT
[#11]
It has served as a quick dinner with a couple of cheese quesadillas.
8/19/2014 7:32:26 AM EDT
[#12]
Chili dogs last night and also chili cheese fries. All with Wolf.
8/19/2014 7:34:35 AM EDT
[#13]
Stagg chili in the box is better, but I have not seen it around in more than a year.
8/19/2014 7:37:52 AM EDT
[#14]
That's a negative Ghost Rider, there is no chili but Hormel no beans chili.

All else is garbage or homebrew meat with too much spice and water.
8/19/2014 7:54:23 AM EDT
[#15]
I switch off between the two brands.  Makes for some good "preps" to have some put away in storage too.
8/19/2014 8:03:41 AM EDT
[#16]
I give it a shot of ketchup makes it better.
8/19/2014 8:06:38 AM EDT

Wolf beats the shit out of Hormel as far as canned chili goes.
8/19/2014 8:11:46 AM EDT
[#18]
Wolf with beans, ramen noodle, can of corn, Sriracha, and some mexican shredded chees blend.

Oh hells yes. Looks like dog food but it's pretty good for a packaged chili

Love me some Wolf Brand Chili (no beans) !!
8/19/2014 8:16:28 AM EDT

Wolf used to be made in TX, not sure if it is anymore.

I'm no Chili connaisseur, but the best canned chili for eating in a bowl with crackers and cheese is IMHO Campbells Chunky Firehouse.
Their Roadhouse is darn good too.

Both have beans.

Bush's (beans) made a decent chili in a glass jar, haven't seen it in stores in awhile or just haven't looked. Miles ahead of Wolf IMHO

I tried a can of Wolf a few months ago because everyone said it was so good....

It sucked ass...

Snagged about 6 cans of the stuff from Walmart when Hurricane Sandy was on the warpath.

Forgot all about it until recently. I've had 2 cans of it and I do prefer it over Hormel.

I like it.  Cut up a couple hot dogs into it.  Good Stuff

Texas Pete chili for hotdogs round these parts.

The last time I ate canned chili was in the late 80's.

I use Wolf Homestyle to make nachos. Throw down the chips, cheese, chili, jalapenos, onions, more cheese. Nuke or bake until cheese is melty, then add pico or whatever you like on top.

The only acceptable use for canned chili (no beans, of course) is frito chili pie and when I make it, I use Wolf Hot.

Is dogshit.

The best pre made chili I ever had was one that came in a jar. I don't remember the brand, but my dad used to buy it all the time. It was nearly as good as fresh made.

I do eat Wolf brand, but something about the meat is off.

I wish I could find that stuff that was sold in a jar again.

I can do either Hormel or Wolf chili - just give the beans to the transplants.

IF I HAD to eat canned chili, Hormel would be my choice.
Wolf is terrible.
Fortunately, I live in Texas and am not faced with such a decision

Are the beans polymer coated or the green lacquer coated ones?

I came to post this.  I found some once, but it was a #10 of the stuff.  Just a little too much (quantity), even for my fat ass.
