I keep getting close to pulling the trigger and buying one...then I think, what the fuck would I ever do with it?  I would be embarrassed to wear it to the range, or pretty much anywhere.  It would sit along with all the other mostly useless shit I've bought over the years...swords, machetes, fighting knives etc.

Yet, I still want one for some stupid reason.

The vests pretty much suck anyway. Either fix yourself up a chest rig, a belt rig, a plate carrier or some combination of the 3. I gotta say that these days I'm pretty partial to running the "war belts". Quite comfy and carries enough stuff to go out and run drills and whatnot.

Chest mag rigs are the way to go unless you plan on going the body armour route.

I used to think that way, then I got a belt rig. Other than admin pouch type stuff the belt rig is faster, centers the weight better, and drops off faster.

I have an old Blackhawk vest that I ordered from them in 1994 or so. The tag inside says 'VA Beach, VA' and their catalog was still in black and white. It works for what it is, and has carried AR, AK, M-14, G3, and FAL mags over the years.

Even with plates. The motion to reload is so unnatural from a chest rig. Why train around an obstacle if you can remove it from the get go?

Just get a plate carrier and be done with it.
