Any recommendations on a single stack 9mm?

So far I've checked out a Shield and a Nano.  Didn't like the Nano because there isn't a manual slide release.  Shield pointed well, felt decently balanced.  Wondering what else I should check out.

I looked at a friends XDs a while back, just never been a fan of the XD grip.  He also recommended going with the Shield because the trigger is better and it's only $400.

Just wondering what else I should check out.

I'll buy one if they ever come out with it but I'm not holding my breath.

What size?

small for carry,
Kahr PM or CW 9

If you're near Mansfield area you can try out my CW9

I like the P239, but its probably the heaviest single stack out there.  It doesnt always make the most sense for carry if you are trying to keep things small and light.

Walther PPS: dependable, very flat, more accurate than it needs to be, tune it to your specifications with different magazines and back straps.

The 3rd gen S&W's are awesome if you're willing to consider something used.

My dad has a Sig P290RS and it's an incredible little gun. The thing is crazy accurate for its size, and it is pleasant to shoot too. The only downside is that it's a little heavy.

S&W Shield all the way.

If you want the ability to pocket carry then I would look at Kahr CM9 and Diamondback DB9.

Shield was awful snappy to me. Ergo's just didn't work with me I guess.
Nano is ... Weird.
Not a fan of the Kahr trigger.
R51 was a horrid shoot.
Hear excellent things about the PPS

CCP has an amazing trigger and it feels great in the hand although the example I fucked with... That slide appears to be made of sintered something or other that I'm sure is fine but doesn't feel sturdy.

People seem to like the p938 but it's... Small?

G42 shoots amazing.

I am in love with my 9mm 1911 commander

I would wait until shot and see if glock pulls one out of it's ass.  Maybe someone else will spring one?

If you're going to do that, at least wait for the striker-fired version to hit the streets and be recalled before you buy one.

Didn't know they'd made it to shelves yet. Impressive given that the presser was only a week ago. I liked the feel of the LC9 I tried until I pulled the trigger... and pulled... and pulled... and pulled... Curious about the LC9s but not in any rush to replace my PM9.

No on the striker fired.  I like the trigger on mine just fine.

At least they recall stuff instead of ignoring it and it's usually just some legaleze bullshit anyway.

Thanks guys.  Definitely going to the look at the PPS and the Ruger.  I've fired a cousins Kahr before and didn't care for it.

The Shield is still high on the list due to the price.

I like the shield too, but bought the P938. It's on sale for 499 at PSA with night sights.

After going to a large LGS and handling every small 9 they had I went with a Sig P938 and couldn't be happier. I got the Blackout version with the rubber grips and extended magazine and it fits my hand perfectly, but still conceals really well under a light shirt. I also get an extra round compared with many of the others. I was more that $400 but to me, it was worth it.

Can't speak for the CM9, but my PM9 shoots and carries really well. Pocket or Mitch Rosen IWB clip on, flush 6rd with ext 7 rd as spare.

If it was out already it wouldn't even be a question.  I'll definitely pick one up if/when they are available.

I can't imagine ever ditching my Kahr PM9 for when I'm wearing tighter clothing and can't conceal (to my satisfaction) my Glock 26. So tiny and it's had 500+ rounds of 124g +P Gold Dots cycled through it without a single hangup. It's expensive, but the CM9 is the cheaper version of it.

Shield Fo Sho! Half the price of the admittedly good Walther, but I'd rather get mo ammo.

Even stock, I like the XDS trigger better than the Shield's. Gonna have to look into the spring kit. I also have always liked the grip safety on the XD line. They're both fine guns, though (as long as you get the Shield without the manual safety). The Shield seems to be a little cheaper.

Yeah, the Shield felt good in my hand and pointed well.  I do want to find a PPS to take a look at but the price of the Shield is going to be hard to beat I think.

My personal opinion is that any of those guns are going to need grip tape or stippled, and a nice trigger if I'm going to be able to shoot them to my standards.

I went with shield, grip take, apex trigger, and warren 2 dots.  - Luckily, I got the gun for a steal, but had I not I probably wouldve ended up with a Kahr CM9. Much better trigger out of the box. The XDs's trigger aint bad either, but it's an XD.

I have both. My XDS gets carried daily and my shield stays in the safe. I just shoot the XDS better.

Do yourself a favor and see if you can find a Bersa BP9 to shoot. Amazing trigger. Only downside is mag safety.
