Is there rampant, excessive, un-necessary  ROAD construction  going on in your area ?
Contractors are  tearing up perfectly good roads all over my area.
There are  MASSIVE road construction/ upgrades  in progress all over here.
Repaving, and upgrading roads that  are/ were in perfectly good condition are being shredded and repaved.
It is  RAINING money around here, like a huge  federal make-work full employment  operation.

Yep

They are doing the roads they need to along with one that had 5-10 years left on them. State roads primarily

Light rail is about as close to that as I've seen.

Yep, they've torn up an entire city nearby to put in 3 Roundabouts. 3 Roundabouts in a 3 block section, all of them 1 block from an At Grade RR crossing.

The construction is retarded, the carnage afterwards could be epic.

Picture traffic backed up for trains, roundabouts clogged, traffic stalled on RR crossings.

Good times, good times.

I am getting the idea that the  road construction binge is   the latest  iteration of Quantitative Easing,
literally POURING  new, made up money on the local economies, to stave off economic  depression.

The   end result will be a hyperinflation.

If this  trend continues,
Toilet paper will cost more per pound than fifty dollar bills.

Around here they are replacing old asphalt with that new-fangled "no-puddle" stuff.

I like it.

Yet the very worst, pothole ridden sections remain untouched.

Let's tie up the highest traffic sections for YEARS doing apparently, nothing.

I love when they sit for 6 months seemingly untouched, but the barrels and lowered speed limits remain.

Don't worry. Once the paving is complete they'll tear it up again to improve water and sewer lines. It's in the rule book.

No, it's asphalt with additives that make it permeable to water. Water drains through or downhill. No puddles means the asphalt lasts longer. A side benefit is much less road spray when it rains.

coming from central FL to AR i was amazed that road construction actually gets finished here as in after a couple years they pull up the barrels and the road is open.

The city is replacing all the water and sewer lines in my hood.  Road replacing comes next.

Roundabouts, my city is tearing up countless intersections and putting them in place. Folks around here aren't used to them. Stopping when they should be going yielding when they shouldn't be.

I hate those things!

I see you've driven on I-59 and I-65 too.

10 mile stretches of orange barrels , 55mph, ......cheap & easy way to set up speed traps
