| This thread reminded me of a conversation I had yesterday with some other contractors. Why didn't blacks ever corner the construction industry in America? Here, in BFE Indiana, you can't swing a hammer without running into a Mexican, Guatemalan, or Salvadorian. They're involved in every facet of the building process. In contrast, black men in the construction trades are rarer than hen's teeth! So what gives? |

Here is why the change in classification to Whites being grouped as Hispanic/non-Hispanic. It hides the data from direct comparison.

GeographyRace Alone or in Combination [1] White Black or African AmericanAmerican Indian and Alaska Native. Asian. Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander United States252,330,091. 45,003,665 6,439,758 19,437,463. 1,431,337 Same data with just the groups reporting as Hispanic under each category. GeographyRace Alone or in Combination [1] White. Black or African American. American Indian and Alaska Native. Asian. Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander United States49,038,737. 3,241,334 2,258,277 970,332. 340,400 So bottom line here is that there are 49M estimated Hispanics to 45M total Blacks.
