Is it me of did the Ads on Youtube videos seriously increase in the last few weeks? Almost every video I watch now I have to clear the small Ad the displays.

I run adblock 24/7 unless it's a content creator I really want to help out. If they're partnered, you're going to get ads.

They have ads on Youtube?

I've been running Adblock for almost two years. The only ads it can't get rid of are on Hulu, so I stopped going there.

I run a Hosts file and have for a long time. Not sure if something else has changed. The page Ads do not display. It's just the ones in the Youtube videos themselves.
