If it were not for the stupid "approved" handgun list the sales would be higher.. California has always been a good market for handguns but many MFG's have just given up trying to sell here..
If you change the color of the coating / plastic you have to resubmit 2 copies of the weapon for distructive testing and $2500 IIRC.. Stupid shit like that.. It sucks because there is a very good market for high end 1911's and such out here but you can't buy many models.. |

Interesting the change from handguns to long guns.
Handguns use to outnumber long guns by a factor ... now it's flipped and looks like it's going in the other direction. Peak pistols?
I know I've bought plenty of long guns* the last few years but no pistols ... nothing has interested me lately. * that's two. |

I know I've bought plenty of long guns* the last few years but no pistols ... nothing has interested me lately. * that's two. When I lived in California (97-05) I bought significantly more long guns after they instituted the "roster"., mostly because the really nice stuff was not being submitted and they did not have as good a handle on transferring consignment guns at most places in my area. That and they pretty much killed C&R handguns for C&R holders. I do remember driving from the Bay Area to San Diego to buy a S&W 52-2 and repeating the trip in 10 days to pick it up about a year before they came up with the exemption for that handgun. I would say the OLL concept encouraged much more long gun sales as well. |
