I'd go with the Thompson for old time guns.
I'd go with the HK MP-5 in 10 mm for the newer ones. Reach out to 275 yards (single shot) with that.

I'm biased though.

The MP5 is great, but it is as ancient as the rest and guns, parts and mags are uber expensive.

Of the ones I've shit, the uzi. Mp5 was lighter and smooth, but the uzi is very controllable and just built like a tank.

Having fired a really good variety I continue to have a soft spot for the Thompson and the Gustav m/45 (K)

In the modern/real world it sort of boils down to a vote for the MP5.

ETA:
Almost forgot my first love - Beretta 93R - but in the first world they are a solution looking for a problem.
