| I had forgotten how horrible they could be! First time in 20+ years I got I to them, I forgot to re-spray myself with deet before resuming fire wood cutting at the Alabama camp and I'm still suffering two weeks later. 40 something itching wounds...Remember to protect yourself, I know I won't forget again! |
| Do not think that the big fluffy muscadine leaves will make for good field expedient TP. Chiggers do get on those things, then from there, they get into your..... uhh,..... exhaust system. You've never suffered until you had a taint and ass crack full of chiggers. |

I just sprayed a bunch of bactine and that pink shit all over a bunch of bites I got on my legs over the weekend. Deet every fucking day everywhere from now on out. Last time they bit me up it took months for them to heal up, they really tear me up bad for some reason. |

Humidity's not high enough in CO for them. |

Recommending control top or standard might seem weird though.

Profanity isn't allowed in Thread titles.
Alternate between sitting in a tub of water and epsom salts cold enough to make you numb, showers hot enough to make you sterile for 6 months, and refraining from scratching your junk off. Things should get better in a week or so. |

Benadryl or generic Diphenhydramine is your friend. I'm allergenic to them and they won't heal without a round or two of Benadryl. Once I take some the difference just overnight is amazing. This and the after bite products are just ammonia. Dab some household ammonia on each bite. It will help neutralize the itch. |

Trick I learned long ago. Wear panty hose under your clothing. Full body pantyhose. They keep crawling upwards until they hit exposed skin. If the panty hose stop at the waist, they bite all over the waistline and upper body. |

Went with a friend to look at a piece of land he is interested in buying last Friday, my legs got ate up by chiggers. I havent had to deal with this shit since I was a teenager.
Im tired of hearing my wife tell me to quit scratching......fuck you woman, Im a grown ass man, if I want to scratch I'm gonna scratch. |

Got 100+ about two weeks ago. Two nights of popping benadryl every four hours and it got better. Now it's just small marks where each one decided to dine on my flesh I plan on putting down more sevin dust around the yard within the next week or so. I should have done it earlier this year. |

Chiggers suck.
There's a new butg repellant that some university has developed...Vanderbuilt, I want to say...that's supposed to be 1000x more effective than deet. Apparently, deet suppresses the senses of insects so you aren't as appealing a meal...this new stuff overwhelmes their senses. It's like comparing camoflage to tear gas for bugs. Yup, Vanderbuilt, here's a link: http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu:8080/reporter/index.html?ID=10764 ETA: Just noticed the date on that article is from 2011...I heard about this in the news fairly recently...so not sure if maybe the date stamp is wrong, or the media is digging out skeletons and it's been found this stuff makes you grow a 3rd eye or something. |

Chiggers and humidity are why I'll never go back to GA voluntarily. Miserable stuff.
Permetherin treated clothing is fantastic. If you don't want to add it onto your own clothing, the recent batches of ACUs come with a layer of it already applied. Find a newer cheap pair at a surplus shop and you should be good. I think it supposedly lasts for about 100 washes. I'm pretty sure the pants tag says if it was treated or not. |
