I want an action camera...I'm leaning more towards the Sony over the GoPro... Suggestions? Other cameras I should be considering? Pro's and Con's of each? GoPro Hero3 Sony Action Cam I'm partially hooked on the Sony Camera with the GPS and Speedo overlays: Nevada Desert Ford Raptor Run |

Each has strengths and weaknesses. I have the Sony HDR AS10 - no frills, but same recording specs as other models. The video is great and the image stabilization works. There is a distinct blue color shift. I had a problem with heat build up and fogging inside the case (even when skiing @ 15º F). I drilled the case (per video on Youtube) and that fixed the heat buildup problem and the fogging. I've used GoPros and they are good too. I would buy the Sony again. If GoPro ever gets IS and it isn't an arm and leg, I'd consider that too. Some friends have had problems with the GP Black. YRMV |

I used to have a commercial account with Sony because I have bought hundreds of thousands of dollars of video equipment from them over the years. Then they completely derped with their software updates, sometimes refusing to update software forcing you to buy new hardware to replace stuff that was only a year or two old. I still remember the last phonecon I have with my sales rep, she knew she was about to lose me as a customer. Sony can go fuck themselves and rot in hekk for all I care. I will never buy another Sony product again...and you can quote me on that. |

Go up to 1080/30 or 720/60 and 15 minutes for 2GB. So with a 32gb card and 720/30, you'll get about 8 hours. Battery life depends on the camera, but most aren't over 3 hours. |
