What is your favorite lower parts kit when considering the quality of trigger / other parts and price?
I am talking complete kit....fire control group, A2 grip, trigger guard, etc. I have only used PSA's kits (which are good enough in my opinion), but for next rifle I am considering switching it up and going with something else. I don't mind paying a bit more, but I would like to make sure that there is an actual quantitative difference in quality and not just because it says "Daniels Defense" on the bag. |

In the past I have used RRA, Bushmaster, DPMS, and Double Star. The RRA is the best overall, with a good quality metal trigger guard and real coiled roll pins that are easy to drive in. Bushmaster was good except for the plastic trigger guard. Double Star was ok. DPMS has a few problems but it is acceptable if you plan to use an aftermarket pistol grip. Their "A2" grip is under-sized compared to the others, and they use crappy split pins instead of coiled roll pins. The one good thing about the DPMS is the rounded-top "M-16" style hammer they use, and not the notched AR15 hammer. I also like that I can get DPMS kits from Brownells for very cheap with my C&R FFL discount. |

Daniel Defense. Everyone seems to recommend Daniel Defense LPKs, but In my opinion mine was of lower quality than the DPMS kit I used for my first AR. The machining seemed rougher, there's what looks to me like pitting on the disconnector, the take down pins fit very loosely in both of my lowers (I tried them in both to see if it was the fault of my new lower), and in order to get the rear pin to sit flush I had to dremel off a small ring of extra metal that wasn't machined off at the factory. Everything seems to work, but it just isn't the quality I was expecting. |

The finish was inconsistent on some parts, but otherwise it was indistinguishable from my usual RRA kits. Arfcom: Why should I buy more DD kits instead of the inexpensive PSAs? |
| In my little world I was surprised to see the PSA parts looked better than Stag or RRA. I don't waste time/ammo on shitty mil spec triggers though. Just my opinion, but an ALG Combat trigger is well worth it for a budget or HD setup, and a Geissele for target or precision. |

Daniel Defense. I've had DPMS kits where the heat treat was fucky. Bolt stop got chewed up from normal use. I've had CMMG kits that had a large amount of play in both the takedown and pivot pin. PSA kits are ok, but I've had some really gritty feeling triggers from them. |

I've built 3 with RRA, 1 with PSA, and 1 with Stag. The Stag kit had a safety selector with a nipple inside the depression that the selector detent sits in when in the fire position. That prevented it from clicking into place properly. The last RRA kit was missing the bolt catch buffer. "Inspected," my ass.... From here on out I'm just buying triggerless PSA kits. IMO the only lower parts that really matter are the trigger and a nice ambi safety. |

I've gotten some really good triggers from PSA kits. I think their kits (non-PTAC) are high quality at a great price. Came to post this. I've never had issues with the PSA stuff. I did end up swapping most of my triggers for Geissele and grips for Magpul but the springs and detents are fine. |
