Anybody use the Costco Auto buying program? Did it save you money? |
|
I sold cars for a couple of years. At least in my dealership, the Costco price was very close to the regular Internet price, which was usually pretty decent.
I don't know if the buying programs (Costco, USAA, etc) help you all that much, but I don't think they hurt either. I'd use them if I were buying a brand where I didn't know anyone who sold them, but like anything you'll want to do some research too. The annoying thing where I worked was that they wouldn't let you give the price on the phone, you had to have the person come in and do a little "reveal" of the price, at which time they usually got mad because it was pretty much the same price several other dealers had given them via email. |

just asked a car dealer about the savings, he hestiated to give a solid answer, just mumbled its about $1000 less ...i assume under msrp. i wonder if there any more haggle room. You can always get their offer and bounce it off other dealerships. With the Internet you can be working four or five places at once. Hell, with smart phones you can be working several dealerships while sitting in a dealership. |
