Judah P Benjamin - I'm doing a research paper on him ; if anyone has any good information for me that would be great. everything I've read says he was smart if not the brains of the confederacy . Motives would be interesting to know but he left no manifesto behind and became very mysterious after the war : Discuss

There is a large amount of generally unknown Jewish history involved in the southern states. Yes............you even had revolutionaries who were run out of Europe for trying to overthrow their various govts who threw their lots in with the Union..............48'ers.

There were some honorable men who fought in the confederacy.
As for fighting for "states rights" is concerned... The confederacy built a top-heavy, economy-destroying central-government... That was horribly managed, and horribly led... And spread resources too thin and didn't effectively force Texas to send money and men like the rest of the slave states... |
