So there was a thread about a week or so ago, and a few members were talking of how dangerous bullet setback is. And when I asked for proof of someones gun going KB or anything because of it, I never got a response.

Here's a test Lucky Gunner did about the matter.

So does anyone have any proof? Or witnessed catastrophic failure from it?

Yup and I want to see some proof for once...

it depends a lot on the powder.

most modern powders are not terribly sensitive to how much space there is in the case but, case volume as related to charge mass can create higher than normal or spec pressures.

In most cases this shouldn't result in a catastrophic failure but i wouldn't rule it out.

many of my loads completely fill the case or are even compressed so to me it doesn't seem like much of an issue...

Yeah the article pretty much comes to the same conclusion

And yet countless members on here still freak out about it....

Donno why but when I had a .40 it seemed more prominent with that round.

I've heard of this also.

It CAN happen. It might not happen with factory ammo, but overpressure is a real thing. I wonder why he didn't do the test with +p or +p+ Gold Dots?

Now that is a compressed load!

That's a good question I kinda wondered the same about the +p and +p+

Especially since that's really the only ammunition that people tend to load and unload many times.

Yup, to be safe I'm still going to not use rounds that have any noticeable setback for SD. And instead just shoot them at the next outing. I just don't understand some of the members on here who never chamber the same one twice.
