I have an item I'm selling that needs to be shipped
the buyer said they'd gladly pay the shipping costs The tool weighs about 42lbs and is about the size of a tool box - what is the best way to package this? Thanks |

I'm sorry, I should specify that I'm shipping from work's mail room - they may have the proper supplies though. Quoted:

If the buyer is paying shipping costs I'd take it to a UPS store and have them do it. I'm sorry, I should specify that I'm shipping from work's mail room - they may have the proper supplies though. Using company supplies for personal use? |

Get a tag and write destination address on it, then wrap it in sheets of bubblewrap and tape the shit out of it. write destination address on piece of paper and tape to outside. Add another layer of bubblewrap and then tape the shit out of it. Again write destination address and tape it to side. Put in box. Fill box with some sort of packing material. Seal box and tape the shit out of it. Often heavy items will shift or roll coming down a conveyor system and will rip right out of the box, which is why I don't trust just putting it in a box filled with styrofoam peanuts. When this happens it sheds it's address and can end up miles away from the remainder of the box. This is why multiple destination labels on the item itself on different layers are very important, it helps the supervisors of the box throwing monkeys problemsolve where the item is supposed to go.

Perfect - thanks (from my wife) we'll do that - damn thing is heavy as hell and the guy is paying plenty for it so we'd like to get it to him without too much package carnage |
