| Ive got 10 yr old boxer that is the best dog I've ever owned. Super smart, very obedient, gentle w/ my kids, fierce protector and all around great companion. I would like to add another dog to the family at some point and have been looking at some options including another boxer. I saw a photo of a beautiful blk Cane Corso that piqued my interest. Does anyone here have direct experience with this breed? I can read plenty of pages about them but looking for some personal experience. |

I got to know them quite well in Okinawa. I WILL own one. |

I have a 7 month old Cane Corso, I'll get some pics up. He's a good dude. Even as a young male he's very even tempered around the house. He's very gentle around my two girls and listens well. You have to make sure and take alpha status or else the dog will try and run the show. Set boundaries and establish dominance asap. At 7 months Friendo "Doh" is 80lbs and insanely strong. I take him for 2-3 miles runs daily and he comes back for more. If you're not a psychically strong person I would not recommend the breed. Outside the home he seems to have a creeper meter. Some folks he won't pay any attention to and some folks he plan does not like. I'm working on this behavior quirk. I would not want to be an intruder in the godrilla household. |

Go to pet forum and take a look. I recall seeing a fair amount of people posting pictures of Cane Corso and Presa De Canario (which look too similar in my eyes to tell apart.) Then you can ask current, active owners questions directly. Also, check out the boerboel breed, it is similar to the Cane Corso and Canario
