I'm putting together some quick grab gear.
I have my 14.5" AR, all arounder. I have my 1911A1 .45. I have a nice big Pelican case, 1600 model. I plan on non perishables for food, a filtration system for drinking water, pot/pan, campstove. My question is what sort of quick, throw in the truck type of setup do others have? |

Shhh... let GD have a little fun today

Quoted: In what way is it even possible to "bug out" from Hawaii unless you have a pretty sizable boat (in which case, just keep the stuff on the boat; maybe not the weapons)? Quoted: Quoted: In Hawaii you will also need copius amounts of meth and Spam In what way is it even possible to "bug out" from Hawaii unless you have a pretty sizable boat (in which case, just keep the stuff on the boat; maybe not the weapons)? Jump in a volcano?

A boat. Or as a guy once told me all you need to survive is a bandana and an oar. You can beat your food to death with the oar if needed and the bandana to wash yourself.
Personally I have all of my camping gear always packed as I do enough camping where it is great to not worry about having to pack it if needed. |
| 3 1/2 gallons of water, couple of 3600 calorie emergency food bars, a package of mountain house, a few tins of aluminum for cooking/ boiling, matches, glow sticks, some iodine pills, a couple of cooking candles, and coffee filters. Contained in a good hiking back pack. |

Most def, you should consider a repost in the survival forum. Serious, but far from comprehensive answer list: First aid kit including blow out kit LED head lamp Multi-tool Fire making tools (min three kinds) Zippo stored dry and a can of fluid is a must AR spare parts and applicable tools spare ammo fixed blade knife and sharpener machete camp axe shovel sil-nylon tarp space blanket $15 kind survival blanket $2 kind (several) Cordage (rope and good para cord) and a few plastic tent stakes Woobie Head gear sun screen Trioxane stove or Esbit stove or equal + fuel P38 Something to hold water (maybe simple collapsible canteen) Small bottle of Tobasco sauce and or spice kit (min salt and pepper camp kit) you will get the idea |

Good. Now post a hurricane evacuation route sign next to it pointing in the opposite direction. |

Quoted: My 1660 supposedly floats up to 350 pounds. Quoted: Quoted: Don't you guys know shit? The Pelican doubles as BOB! (bug out boat) ![]() BTW-that thing is a supreme pain in the ass when traveling. |

rather than reposting the whole thing (because it's pretty long), here's my approach. specifics have evolved a lot since then, but the bones of it are still the same. |
|
Quoted: Hey rookie, if you want real advice, don't ask in the GD. On another note, the Magnum P.I. reference made me shoot PBR out my nose. ![]() this is a good point. many posters don't know that we have extensive survival forums with a much better signal/noise ratio than GD. |

I would keep one of these for bugging out. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/71/Zodiac_on_the_beach.jpg This basically what I've got...folds up pretty small when deflated, but mine is powered by a trolling motor, with solar panel for charging.... |

HI is one of the last places I would want to be in case of SHTF. I am not sure how many people would be with you but If it just you or one other person and a collapse of society I would want one of these I would then proceed to a place like this With some camo netting and some supplies you could do well as long as you had water. You could use the canoe to paddle out and in but use an outboard for emergencies or when away from land. I would only try to trek out to a location like that at night though. For food on a little rock like that I would read up on small gill netting and fish traps. like this http://www.amazon.com/Best-Glide-FG1151-Survival-Gill/dp/B004INMG98 and http://www.amazon.com/Frabill-Galvanized-Minnow-16-5-Inch-Torpedo/dp/B003NUW5R0/ref=sr_1_19?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1397172757&sr=1-19&keywords=fish+trap |
