That whole mantra of robots/AI/uploaded person instantly turns greedy-evil wants MOAR and will take over/sterilize the world etc. kind of irritates me.
By way of analogy, we have nearly God-like powers over our children, our pets etc. and by and large, the vast majority of us at any given time, even when you count all the crime, abuse, wars, and genocides and whole despotic countries, we treat each other decently, or at worst, with indifference way more than 50% of the time. Another thought experiment. If you have kids or care for other people in some capacity, and I had a pill that would erase all care, concern, or worry for those individuals from your mind, any guilt etc. and free you completely from all obligations so you could focus 100% on your own betterment... would you take that pill? |

More points than for speculating about exterminating humanity if given god like powers. You would have been better off telling the truth. Now you're even more suspect.

Not per se, but I'd start looking around for a way to make MAD a real possibility. Take any AI race you want: Cylons, Skynet, Geth, those in the Matrix. All of the genocides in these stories could have been prevented if the machines would have built nuclear stockpiles in the proportions needed to make everyone else nervous. It's basic dog psychology, if you scare them and get them peeing down their leg, they submit. But if you project weakness, that promotes violence, and that's how people get hurt. Peace, through superior firepower.
