Its not personally for me, but I think the intent behind your gesture is what matters.
In my opinion, the stars look odd. But maybe in person it wouldn't as much. You did what you did to honor your friend, his sacrifice and that of others, that is what is important. There are lots of terrible flag tats out there, but I don't feel any of them disrespect the actual flag or country, assuming the intent behind the image is pure. I think your family member is taking the whole symbolism thing a bit far. |

You should ask your parole officer what he thinks about it. He probably sees a lot of stuff like that every day. Shots fired. I'm sorry. That was inconsiderate of me. His parole officer might be a female. He should ask him/her. |

Personally,I don't care what your tattoo looks like.
Why would you care what I think if you got it for the reasons you got it? If you care what other people think about your tattoos, then you should ask BEFORE you get the tattoo, not after. Do I like it? Not relevant at all. It's yours. Live with it, whether your friends like it or not, whether YOU like it or not. |

A good friend of mine was serving in Afghanistan last year. He sent (presented) me with an American Flag that was flown in combat. Along with a certificate with the date is was flown. I was so moved by his gesture that I wanted to pay tribute for his sacrifice and every one that serves and had served our country. So I got this American Flag tattoo on my arm. I started catching flack for it by a family member because it's not exactly the way the flag is. And I knew the way it was done might offend someone. But he called me unpatriotic and Un American for the manner the tattoo was done. His claim is because the stars don't align properly and the stripes are not in proper order I'm desecrating our flag and disrespecting country. My goal was to say thank you and pay tribute. I'd like your opinions. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm228/tkashaw/ert.jpg A good tat artist could fix it by adding the correct amount of stars, spaced appropriately, even in already shaded areas. |
