I have RTI T1-B currently, and since I'm getting a new TV I'll have to swap some stuff around and RTI uses software and dealers to program. So I thought I would throw this in here to see what others are using since I doubt I'll be calling a dealer to reprogram my remote.

RF is a must at this point.
I'll be hooking up a marantz tuner
A Samsung Blue Ray player
AT&T uverse box

There are other hookups, but those are the only ones that use the tv remote (unless I can figure out Sony's Playstation coding)

Logitech Harmony series is great, moving up from there in price is URC, Universal Remote control.

For just a few devices in one room, the Logitech series is pretty good.

I had a logitech prior to the RTI and while it had some problems I may go back and give their RF units a try.  the IR was a problem with my old logitech as it sends out a different signal for each device.

Harmony.    I have 2 and love them.   They are not pricey if you consider the price of your gear.     And the ease of use is nice.     And you can set them up to do whatever you want.   For example my main one: If I hit "Play movie"   It will power on my Receiver, amps, bluray player, and projector.  It will pick the correct settings on all my gear (inputs, outputs, volume level etc.) I even have it set to dim the lights in the room as well as the system powers up for the movie.      The ability to create "macros" or assign tasks is a super nice feature besides just being a universal remote to use on any device.

Harmony for me...

Controls the fan, fireplace, tv, everything!  Have had it for years and it keeps going.

Long time Logitech user.

Just don't keep it charging. Only charge when it needs it.

I like the Harmony series, too.

I had a Harmony 800 for some time, then I found Dell selling the Harmony One at 50% off.  Why, I don't know, but I upgraded immediately.

It is great for the wife or when folks visit.  Push "Watch DVD", "Watch Roku" or "Watch DirecTV" and it turns on what it needs and sets all inputs correctly.

I think the Harmony 900 was the Harmony One with RF.

I have had many different Logitechs and currently have the 1100.  I also have an 890 laying around that was a great remote.

But, I still wish that I had my Pronto Pro that I sold a couple years back.

They are not pricey at all in comparison to other URC's with similar function.  And the simplicity of programming makes up for any extra money spent.

I'm still using my 14+ year old Marantz RC-5000 (Philips Pronto) for remote duties and while the ni-cad pack died, I'm able to use NiMH and still program it.

You might be able to find a used one for cheap on Ebay.
