The Institute of Military Technology recently restored a M24 Chaffee and would like to describe a bit of the process. Ground up restoration. Twin V8 flathead cadi engines.

I remember when Chris had an M22 is his little body shop in Bridgeport. Glad to see he's moved on to bigger and better things after that M39 debacle!

Is the IMT planning on expanding it's collection with the coming liquidation of the Littlefield MVTF collection?

That is awesome.  Looks great.

That's amazing that the V8's were only 110 hp each, when compared to V8's today.

However the term "flathead V8" is really sexy.

Amazing restoration. They did it right. Damn, that's nice.

I'd love to be able to get in one of those old tanks and drive it around for a while. Driving was my favorite part of being on an Abrams.

Most excellent sir.  Thank you for posting this.

Nice collection of armor.  The M24 and M41 were two of my favorite tanks from that era.  I never knew the M24 was powered by twin engines.

I have always enjoyed armor restorations.

Incredible, my uncle would have loved to see this, he passed away 2 years ago.  He crewed them in WWII and went to the Netherlands to teach them operations and maintenance.

HellaCool!  They have some of my absolute favorites!  M44 Duster, M36 Jackson, and M24 Chafee.  If they had an M18 Hellcat, they would be complete!

Were do you all find these tanks to restore?  I was watching the video and it looks like you all have a bunch of tanks that I did not think you could get.

I had the privilege of touring the Institute of Military Technology with my wife during my pre-deployment leave earlier this month.  It really is an amazing place, and I have to give them props for the amazing work they are doing.

A late 70's early 80's V8 was often less than 200 HP.

It's interesting to see how long some AFVs will stay in service.

The ROK still runs M48s and theirs are so upgraded that they're better than 90% of the tanks in service worldwide.

IIRC, Chile still runs former IDF Super Shermans.
