Beans or no beans?

The world knows the correct way to eat chili (no beans) but the chili dog is a different animal.

What say ye?

Definitely no beans, and plus they need cole slaw!

I like cincy style "chili" the best on hotdogs...though I don't really consider it chili.  In fact, I would never eat it unless I was using it as a topping, but it goes great on dogs, and dare I say, spaghetti noodles.

ETA for chili that is served on its own, I prefer beans though.

Beans.

Tomato Sauce is for soup and pasta.

Well if they are chili dogs then no beans because chili does not have any fucking damn motherfucking beans in it

I'm 57 years old and I've never eaten a chili dog.
But if I did I'm thinking this would be my answer also!
3/7/2014 5:34:31 PM EDT

Who the shit would put beans on a hotdog?
3/7/2014 5:36:22 PM EDT

Look up chili dogging on urban dictionary and report back.
3/7/2014 5:40:41 PM EDT

Chili as a meal = beans.
Chili as a topping (hot dog, pasta) = no beans.  Meat must be ground and very fine in the sauce.  And yes, this is a sauce when used in this manner.

I have told this story before...

Was hungover heading up the mountain in Colorado some years ago.
Friend needed to stop at the AT&T store out a ways in a strip center.
There is this guy with a hotdog cart. I get two with chili, without really looking at what the guy was doing. A chili dog is a chili dog, right?
We get in the truck, I am looking forward to my hangover cure and off we go.
A few miles down the road I open my treasure. WTF! What are beans doing on my chili dog?
I tried to make the best of it but the bean juice makes it inedible and the beans just slide around and fall off. Really?
Ended up tossing them at the next stop.

Beans in chili are a useless and tasteless filler. What value does it add to a chili dog?

I vote beans because that meat sauce "chili" is fucking awful.

In the end I really don't care how anyone else likes theirs.  I like beans, you don't.  We'll both end up with loose stool soon after ingestion.

A little blurry, but you get the idea.

+10, 000 on this.

I like beans in my chili (not that Texas meat soup)

You're right, chili dogs are a different animal.  NO BEANS.  That being said, I don't have a problem with them in my chili... either way is fine.
3/8/2014 9:09:22 AM EDT
[#38]
You don't use chili on hot dogs, you use hot dog topping. Of course in Texas they call hot dog topping "chili" so...
3/8/2014 9:10:32 AM EDT

Beans and hot dogs is good eatin' all by itself.  Chili on hot dogs shouldn't have beans, though.  Use to be, some places at least, all meat chili on hot dogs were called coneys.  They were chili dogs if they had beans in the chili.
3/8/2014 9:12:29 AM EDT
[#40]
chili = beans
coney sauce = no beans

since hot dogs typically get coney sauce, no beans is the correct answer
