Anyone got a good one?

I was a complete skeptic, but my step-mom persisted so I tried Cold-Eze the last time I got the first little sore throat/sniffle symptoms of a cold.

That stuff works! 24 hours later I was feeling much better, and 12 hours after that I was fully optimal once again.

Zicam or Cold-Eze RFN. Have to take it early on.

Never heard of either of them. Can I buy them over the counter at a grocery store type place?

Over the counter. It's zinc.

Country Time pink lemonade made using Perrier and mixed 3 parts lemonade to one part Everclear in a 32 ounce glass.  Get absolutely schnotlockered drinking that stuff and the next morning when you wake up the cold is burned out of your system.

And, CVS and other pharmacies have generic versions of Zicam (usually a spray) or Cold-Eze (usually a lozenge).  Again, you need to start taking it at the first sign of sniffles or sore throat for it to be most effective.

Zicam.  Get the walmart brand, much cheaper.  Speeds up recovery.

Tequila. Not Sauza or Cuervo Gold, but real 100% agave tequila. I swear it has medicinal properties.

Save your money. They are homeopathic bullshit. There is literally no active ingredient in them, which is what homeopathic means.

Local honey works good for me. Not the store bought junk. Real unpasturized honey. Put it in teas, oatmeal, or eat it plain.

Always thought this was bullshit until I actually saw it work multiple times and then tried it.
When the symptoms first start pick your favorite booze and get schnockered.
The next day you may have a hangover but no cold.

ETA: The cold ease/zinc helps to shorten the cold but you still have to deal with it for a few days.

There is almost no zinc in in them. They are homeopathic, meaning that they have been highly diluted.

Any effect from these products is purely placebo.

The real answer is ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine, dextromethorphan, and guaifenesin to treat the symptoms. Plus rest and time.

Cold Calm.... It's homeopathic and it works. I have used it several times and every time it keeps the cold from lasting more than a couple days or being more than a sniffle.

Don't have time for either of those.

I think that's probably why I got a cold in the first place, not enough rest and working out in the cold compromised my normally superhuman immune system.

Not exactly true. zincum gluconicum is the active ingredient. Granted, it's in a pretty small dose (esp. in the lozenges) but it's an active ingredient.

I've tried the nasal gel twice and both times I felt better in less than a day. It's not science, because I can't verify the intensity of the cold otherwise, but I generally keep them around for 4-7 days and both times it was the typical scratchy throat and sinus encroaching and then bang, gone.

I have not tried the other stuff, but Zicam is worth a shot IMHO.

Zicam is not homeopathic. It has a lot of zinc in it. It can damage your sense of smell it has so much zinc in it.
