Who is currently running the best deals on metal targets? I found a couple hundred bucks and want to add to the range.
Unfinished is fine so long as it is predrilled for chains or rope, gong or silhouette is also fine. I have plenty of space and will preferably hang them from chain. Primary use will be pistols of all stripes, heavy lead rifle, and .223 to .22-250 on the upper end of velocity, so I think I had better stick with AR-500. 3/8" is good for pretty much anything reasonable, correct? I'm not going to be shooting a .30-378 at it from point blank. I am thinking Wideners has the best deals currently. |

I like those prices. Thank you, I'll look at those. |

The Target Man - who I believe is a site sponsor - is also a good source. His prices include shipping. He has half and two third sized IPSC targets as well as gongs.

These are good targets ( the AR500 ones )and shipped fast too.

The free shipping from Magnum Targets swayed me. I bought a pack of the softer steel silhouettes for pistols and several gongs for rifle.
I plan to build a small "rack" for the pistols at 25y, and place gongs at 50y, 100y, and 200y on my range. For $140 I think it will be pretty nice. I have plenty of scrap wood and this is on my property, so I'll just build permanent fixtures. |

I just bought some from there, although I haven't used them yet. Owner is a good dude to deal with. |
| Use firehose or trucking tie downs instead of chain. Chain does not hold up well. 22-250 will eat steel up close, so be sure to step it back a bit. 55g 5.56 out of an 18.5 inch barrel will defeat 3/8 AR500 at 20 yards. Might not on the first shot but it will after a few hit the same spot. |

I also got to talk to him on the phone after USPS seemingly lost my targets. They eventually showed up... 3 weeks late. |

Do you tie it up with just a length of hose, or are you cutting a hole in, adding a hook, and burning it shut like with nylon? I have no idea if that would work and something tells me fire hose might be fire resistant. |

They seem to be having some difficulties. |

I've never done it before, but maybe a better way would be to weld bolts on the back side. A couple shots to the bolts and they might not like it. |

I volunteer for my local fire department, I gotta see about getting hose. I think square carriage bolt holes on the front, running the bolt through the hose, and a washer and lock nut on the back could be pretty slick for hangers. For pistols though, 1/4" chain will be fine forever. Even with rifles, with 1/4", spall won't hurt it, only direct hits.
