Put a picture CD in the side drive and now it's just spinning. Haven't viewed this for years since I had a PC.

No option under Force Quit, no icon to eject.

Command/eject. If no-go

restart while holding eject key.

If that doesn't work there is a prompt in terminal but I'd have to google it

Open Disk Utility and eject the drive that way. Otherwise restart while holding (left) mouse button.

Had to restart holding eject key.

Is your membership due anytime soon? I like to pay for help to members here before apple.

Do I need to take this CD to a PC and save it as jpegs only or is there a way to view on a Mac? Thought they were just jpegs.

Hard to say on the disk. Could be formatted for PC if it's old. That usually won't matter though.
Put it in a newer PC and move them to a thumbdrive

I'm OK on my membership but many thanks for the offer
