Though I doubt  he was,I hope he was aware enough those last few days to suffer.


 I think it most likely Kruschev or a co-conspirator poisoned him. I think they were aware of a new purge and that they'd be amongst the first to go. The speed with which Zhukov,for example,moved his troops to stabilize speaks to a larger plot.


Beria might actually be the most evil man in history,even more so than Stalin et al as he actually got his hands dirty. It was fitting that they shoved a sock in his mouth to shut up his bawling before shooting him. Not only was he evil,he was a damned coward.

No such thing as a co-conspirator. I know it gets used a lot..even on TV
