I was just looking at a thread by jeadams on what happened to BUBBAMANcan.  Some one replied they thought he died.

So this got me to thinking.  In this day of the internet with all the forums, facebook, and the other social media sites when a person dies their presence on the net dies with them and nobody may ever know about it.  There are some on here where both husband/wife or BF/GF are members so someone could post a thread about the death or the person may have a close friend on the site that could post something.  For most of us this is not the case.  We are but a screen name and an avatar. If I were to die tomorrow no one would ever know on this site.  A fishing site I have been a member of for 7 years someone might put up a thread because I have met some members personally, some live nearby or they may be friends on FB.

So has anybody else wondered how internet friends would know of your untimely demise?   Or do you just not give a crap.

That's why I like to get published in academia.

I worked with FSU's history department to expand wikipedia only to have it deleted. All sited and agreed upon by professors and experts alike.

It's a small fault in an electronic age.

I'm going to announce it ahead of time, because my wife would never find the "new topic" button.
