So I go into a Tmobile store to ask about phones for my son. He is in CA and I pay his phone. It's unlimited data and voice so no surprises. Want to get him a 5.
SURPRISE!! They say hmmmm, you may want to tell your son that whatever he is downloading costs money....I ask what, and store says we can't see that.......so I call. Dude says (over-enthusiastically) that it's some FB credits or vouchers or some crap like that. I ask what they are doing allowing charges to my account. "certain 3rd party sites have agreements with us..." STOP. I tell them they need to block that crap NOW, and reverse the other charges, because I had NO idea this was happening (this bill has not arrived yet) and I was not paying $90 in FB junk. They say well, we will block it, but charges stand. I ask supervisor if I can make my car payment on my cell phone bill. No. I ask if I can buy groceries on my cell phone. no. Then the ethnicity starts up, and her attitude appears. "Sir, if yo son is spendin monies on yo phone" and I just have to stop her and ask for another person. I explain to this guy I purposely set the phone up to not charge anything above data and voice, and here they are allowing charges! They reversed the charges. My question is, how does this happen where anything can be charged to your cell bill, and second, what are these FB credits or vouchers? How do you use them on FB and how do you keep or send them? I had to explain like 20 times I don't use FB and have no idea how that stuff works, or that there was even such a thing as FB currency or whatever they call it. |

Why are you blaming the phone company for bills that your son tracked racked up? It is almost certainly in the agreement that you signed that these types of things can be charged to the account. You did read the agreement, right? Also, comparing in app purchases to buying a car or groceries is asinine. Tell your son to pay you back for the items that he BOUGHT, and stop trying to blame this on the phone company. |

Geeez...
Only asked what the FB thing is, and why a carrier would even allow that (unrelated things) to be charged to a cell phone account? Not asinine to ask where that stops...Car? Groceries? Internet orders? Why just FB? I have never added a cent to my cell bill besides a phone that was billed because it was over the phone. I only blame the carrier because it was specifically set up to have no changes or charges without my approval. How would I have known 3 years ago that FB would start allowing some crap to be charged to your cell bill? The only reason they reversed the charge was because all other parameters were setup for no additional charges, but somehow this was allowed. Remember, Tmobile has no contracts.....they brag about it. As for my son, I chose to pay for his phone and buy all books as long as college grades are up. They have been. No buddy action. I will speak to him later or when he figures out he cant charge I guess....this happened last night. Obviously he had no permission to just charge crap to my bill, and that will be discussed. He will never go hungry or need shoes, but I am not paying for FB crap. He does have a job at a care-giving (senior) facility. No idea why he put that to my account but it will be discussed. I am not a perfect dad, he's not a perfect son. I was not either. |
