Quoted: One thread on the kit...One on the finished product Quoted: Quoted: You're really getting some mileage posting about that kit aren't you? Why not keep it in one thread rather than starting multiples? |

Easy, just a few specialized tools. (Receiver wrench, return spring removal tool, and a FAL barrel vice is nice.) The torque involved in installing the barrels is crazy. Anti sieze is your friend. Quoted:

How hard is it to put one together? Easy, just a few specialized tools. (Receiver wrench, return spring removal tool, and a FAL barrel vice is nice.) The torque involved in installing the barrels is crazy. Anti sieze is your friend. A large strong bench vise, barrel shoulder tool, go and no-go gauges, pin gauges, and a barrel index/timing tool is needed. |

Back in the Clinton days. I had one by CAI. It had a muzzel brake and shortened 18" bbl. Parts were from an Austrian STG58. IMBEL receiver was used. Kicked up clouds of dust (sitting and prone) and slapped my cheek very hard. IMHO.... she was a bitch and I'm glad that I sold her.
Anyway, I still have the FN FAL (Belgium built). So, it's nothing to cry over. Aloha, Mark |

Did my first two in the 90s without anything of the sort. Not sure what you mean by barrel shoulder tool. (Wrench?) Forgot to mention pin gauges, but go no-go gauges are normal tools for any build. |
| I have a STG as well. Great kit and it turned into a great rifle. I did ditch the metal handguards for DSA plastic ones as part of my compliance parts. I like the classic 50.00 look better anyway. Sold the handguns and bipod for a little cash. Still got the pistol grip if anyone needs one (Austrian imported). |
