Is it real?
What does it really take to be hypnotized?? |
|
It's real. I used to believe it's bullshit but we won tickets to a hypnotist show, and I took my wife and she wound up on stage.
i have been married to the woman for 20 years, she wasn't faking being asleep. after seeing some hilariously awesome things, which I KNEW she wasn't faking (for example the night after the show she took her bra off and was shocked to find several pieces of napkin stuffed in her bra which at the time, she thought to be money she was being paid to be on stage for the show) I looked into it, learned to hypnotize via self study and then took some classes and got a certification as a hypnotic therapist. So hypnosis, is real. currently she's in day 3 of her period with no midol, and hardly noticeable cramping. she normally has horrible cramping and we can't live without midol. it's amazing. oh, and every time I text her the words "hey sexy girl", she sends me inappropriate pictures of herself. . So, it works.

How was her sleep the night after the show? Was she wired? I had a friend start giving me the cold shoulder when I told him I was going to grad school for psych. After about a year he told about going to one of these shows. He said the hypnotist guy convinced him to count to like 15 but leave out #11. So for a few weeks after that his buddies that were at the show would be like "Hey Bob, count to 15!" Bob: "...nine, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen... WAIT! WHAT!?"
He said the night after the show he was completely wired because it was like he already got 12 hours of sleep up on stage. |

He said the night after the show he was completely wired because it was like he already got 12 hours of sleep up on stage. slept like a LOG. that was actually the thing that got me interested so deeply. my wife is an insomniac. until Sept of 2013 she has taken sleeping pills every night to sleep since about 2000 or so. She generally wakes up about 3-4 am and takes another half. she was so deeply relaxed she slept the whole night after having forgotten to take her sleeping pill. I worry about how many of those she has to take so I instantly bit on there was a real effect there. We now use hypnosis to control her sleep instead of sleeping pills. I induce her, instruct her body to sleep deeply until 7 am and then bring her back out with a posthypnotic to drop back into normal sleep when she's ready. she comes out, gets ready for bed, when she's about to go to sleep she usually takes a drink, she takes a drink and pow. down she goes. interestingly enough, she normally wakes literally right at 7am, sometimes a few seconds before. the body has a SCARY good clock in it somewhere. she's done it enough that we switched to a posthypnotic that just stays with her, I don't have to induce her much anymore, she gets ready for bed and either takes a drink and gets instantly sleepy or I give her a post hypnotic code and she drops. The code drops her like a poleaxe. when she takes a drink it takes her 30 seconds or more. I can see you buddy being wired, they are in a deep state of relaxation and it's like sleep for some. If they aren't emerged correctly, they come out groggy. if the hypnotist emerges them with directions to be energetic and strong they will go all night. Funny story, during the classes I took we used volunteers, one day some didn't show up so we called the wife to come act as as subject. we got home and she's in a panic. CAn't find her purse. she's calling stores, checking cars, everything. I finally come in and her purse is sitting on the table in front of her. literally the only object on the table. I point it out to her, she calls me a mean dumbass. one of the students introduced negative hallucination on her as a depth/competency test and forgot to clear it. I had to reinduce her and clear the suggestion. lol. then she was all "oh there it is! you hid it from me jerk!". couldn't talk her out of it. haha |

Just as a side note, well two actually.
#1. Think about Living Colour's Cult of Personality video, all those adoring followers of Ghandi, Mussolini, and Hitler. Now think about what Obama says he is going to do: "I am going to fundamentally transform America!" Let me write that again: "I am going to fundaMENTALLY TRANCE form America." And look at all the braindead sheeple who follow him. #2. I went through SERE in the summer of 1991. I saw this nation's best and brightest do some of the stupidest things. These are people that in about 2 years will be pinning on their first star, they flew planes capable of dropping nukes. My experience in the mock POW camp gave me a greater appreciation for music's ability or control over people. |
|
oh and on the subject of the 3,456,798th reason I'm going to hell, hypnosis is also very good at reducing, or clearing deeply held inhibitions.
note that I did not say objections. You can't get someone to do something they wouldn't do while awake, except under *VERY* specific circumstances which actually don't violate that rule at all but appear to, but you can clear or reduce inhibitions. it's a powerful tool to let people be who they want to be but are too insecure or afraid to really be. |

You learn some of that when learning hypnosis, and the better you are at it, the better hypnotist you will be. and people who are suggestible, are fairly easy to manipulate with NLP. The guy who teaches me is very very good at it, and even when he tells me he's doing it, and I am working with him on it, it works. the best public orators, use NLP. Obama's speeches are FULL of it. Hitlers major ones were too I've heard but never really looked close. most of the great orators use some form of it, if not consciously, instinctively. |

Hypnosis places a role in one of Lee Child's 'Jack Reacher' novels, some of Michael Connelly's 'Harry Bosch' crime novels, and in at least one of Jo Nesbo's 'Harry Hole' crime novels. I've concluded that if you are a crime novel author, hypnosis works very well for you sometimes.
Years ago I did work with a few guys that signed up for a series of hypnosis sessions to quit smoking. They got a group rate. Four of the five were successful. |

I would like to get more information on hypnosis. Do you have any recommendations on books or websites? I have a family member that suffers from OCD. I wouldn't mind trying it to help Let me find some links, the first induction I learned was the Dave Elman induction, This was the first induction I used to get my wife under. There are tons of good videos on Youtube. you have to just find someone who will let you practice. You will also feel like an ass for a while trying it. And it won't always work. I have tried to get my son under several times, and can't do it. he's tough to get under. I have just recently learned an induction called the "Confusion Induction" that works well on him. Also, there are many phases of hypnosis. Very light hypnosis is not really detectable. it's just a slightly relaxed, zoned out state. Like when you are driving, or daydreaming. You're all there, but focused on something else. one of the more entertaining hypnotists is Derren Brown. His whole channel is full of WOW And WTF?! Here's one of my favorites: As far as instructors, I can't say. I went with a local guy who runs a hypnosis center with a lot of clientele. I am not sure about anyone else. there is a guy who sells an online class that looks OK. His youtube channel is pretty entertaining. there's a couple things to remember, not everyone wants to be hypnotized, if someone doesn't want to go under, they won't. You can't force anyone into it. second, it won't work every time, sometimes conditions aren't right, subject too stressed etc. you can learn to work through that, but at first it's hard. when I started I tried several different methods, the first video I showed you was the one I successfully used on my wife for the first time. One of the most important things in hypnosis is the pre-talk, it settles the subject down and they will give you permission to slide under. Think of that as them deciding to lay down and go to sleep. it's analogous. If you want to try it, get a calm place, away from kids, tv etc, get a comfortable chair, get your wife/SO/friend etc that wants to try it. memorize the elman induction in the video I showed you. Not just the in part but the out part. then step them through that induction. don't get frustrated if it doesn't work as anticipated, they'll probably get some level of hypnosis. At the very least they'll feel very relaxed. Then study some of the other techniques and learn how to guide their imagination to solutions. |
|
I haven't watched the video yet, but I will. But before I do I'll address some of the issues I'm sure they'll cover. it's true that in stage hypnosis a LOT of the subjects on stage will either A) fail to go under, or B) come out of it half way through and keep acting as if they are under. I can tell you with 100% certainty though that hypnosis is real. If you go to more than a couple stage shows you'll see people do stuff they would not do if they were fully conscious. in the last stage show I went to, the hypnotist was not very experienced and overloaded himself with subjects. he had about 18 people under. he repeatedly put them to sleep and had people fall out of their chairs flat on their heads. With not an ounce of arm motion to catch themselves. I don't think it's possible to fall that hard on your head without flinching an arm. and the thing that fully convinced me was my wife. I know her. she'd be honest with me. She had NO memory of the things she did on stage. none of it. and honestly she'd tell me the truth if she did. And she also wouldn't fake it if she wasn't in. not really her style. She had no idea why her bra was stuffed with paper, she he no recollection of dancing, none of it. so while I am sure the faking happens a lot, true hypnosis also happens. Edited For comments on Video: Ok Watched the video, and for the most part, what they are stating or observing is true. Especially in the arena of stage hypnosis. if you think of hypnosis as more like being intoxicated it'll make more sense. you are still aware of what is going on, but your level of "care " about what is going on is a lot lower. and the hypnosis subject *is* agreeing to follow the guidance of the hypnotist, but sometimes, that's an important key. my wife for example, has a hard time sleeping due to stress, but if you can get the conscious mind to shut off, or not care about things that bother her, and tell her subconscious mind not to stress about certain things, those stresses go away. it would be similar to meditation or something else. So i'd agree that hypnosis is a subject allowing themselves to follow the guidance of the hypnotist, and letting whatever is suggested happen. what they are implying though, is that it isn't "real", and I don't think that's fair to say really. If a person is healed via the placebo effect, they were still healed. If I can convince my wife's mind, that she needs to stay asleep until 7am, and she never wakes up and when she does, she's incredibly rested, that's a solution. She may have agreed to do that, or maybe could have done it on her own, but she didn't, she let me do it. So while what they were pointing out is largely accurate, I don't think i agree with their conclusion that it's all bullshit. there ARE lots and lots of scam artists in the profession, and you'll notice that almost all hypnotists seem sort of shady, or odd in some way. the first hypnosis class I took was literally full of the most desperate, greasy pimply post teenagers you have ever seen. You could smell the "i have finally found a way to get women to have sex with me!" on them. There's a lot of people like that, but there are a lot of good ones too, that know the limits of hypnosis (relaxation, reshaping habits etc) and don't try to sell you crap (bigger penises, regrowing hair etc). |
I feel like there's a ton of money to be made as a hypnotist on college campuses during finals week. Imagine how much you'd pay to have someone put you under for twenty minutes and bring you out feeling completely rested even though you're on your third all-nighter in a row trying to learn a semester of euclidean geometry in 80 hours.

Is it real? What does it really take to be hypnotized?? Yes it is real. Clinical hypnosis and self hypnosis are facts. You have probably hypnotized yourself while driving. You are driving along, and kind of space out, and have no real memory of driving from a given point to a given point. Yep, you have just been hypmotized. It is not like on TV or stage acts. Why do you ask? |

Thank you for the info. Ill let you know what I find out. Can I pm you if I have a question? |

So hypnosis, is real. currently she's in day 3 of her period with no midol, and hardly noticeable cramping. she normally has horrible cramping and we can't live without midol. it's amazing. oh, and every time I text her the words "hey sexy girl", she sends me inappropriate pictures of herself. . So, it works.
. Holy shit! Serious? Hey sexy girl..

My experience in the mock POW camp gave me a greater appreciation for music's ability or control over people. you are talking about NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and it's extremely powerful.
