meat was trimmed and cubed prior to cooking-meat, chilis, salt, cumin:

dried chili softened in warm water. blended and strained.:

roasted chili, peeled and seeded than added:

chili currently simmering. This has a nice silky heat. I dont like my chili too damn hot so I dont add habaneros or serranos.

keep your potatoes, peanut butter, chocolate, spaghetti, soda and apples ingredients out of this thread. This is REAL chili.

I endorse this as real chili.

A small amount of beer would be acceptable if additional liquid is needed.

OP gets it right...so much win predicted

Meat....chilies.....just the minimal spices needed.

Done...simple.....perfect.

Man, that's gotta be smoking.
I'd eat the whole bowl, but I'm sure I'd regret it latter.

You're from Iowa, what the fuck could you possibly know about chili? What's the Iowan contribution to the culinary arts? Fucking bologna spread and loose-meat sammiches?

When y'all graduate past dog food, feel free to chime in on food threads.

I also would like to commend OP for not posting a kitchen pic... especially if it looks like a fucking doublewide shithole Even if it is nice kitchen, good job on keeping distractions out

Compare this to the other "texan' chili thread and that abortion doesn't compare. Good job on roasting your chilies as well, sir.

Nice job. You made chili. You like it like I do, without any filler like ground beef, beans, or other dumb shit that take away from the authentic flavor of the south-west.

Looks good though OP, most of the shit these "real chili men" post looks like spicey beef stew. Yours has a nice thick "gravy" that coats the meat. (No homo)

You'll note, none of them come from a state with any real contribution to the foodscape of the US.
