I see you are online right now.

Can you check to see if I was a member before 2004?

I am serious..........I really thought I was a member before when the board had a different look..........maybe circa 2000?

Serious question.  (It would have been RDak then also.)

Only one account is possible with a specific user name.  So while it is possible that you did have an earlier account, it would NOT have been with the exact same name.

Could it have been an alternate spelling?

It might have been I was just getting info on AR 15 assembly instructions but I could have sworn I was a member back then.

I started building around 1999 or 2000 IIRC.

Nope..........I am and have always been RDak on all gun sites I am a member of.

Oh well.........I guess I was just seeking info on AR 15 builds and never posted.

But I could have sworn I did ask questions back then.

The board had a different look back then.  That much I do remember.

ETA:  Maybe check Rdak instead of RDak.

Ok, thanks.

I guess I was just reading up on assembly of AR's and not posting questions.

But where did I ask those questions because I am POSITIVE I did post assembly questions somewhere.

Yeah, like Subnet said, it might just be too far back.

Then again, why would I have had to reapply for membership in 2004?

I probably was just a lurker.

ETA:  I know I asked assembly questions and most of the other gunsites I am a member of weren't in existence back then.

So I am stumped as to where I asked these questions and this is why I asked this original question.

I think I have figured out what happened.

You probably had a membership on the old board around 1999 or so, and when we switched to the new board around November 2000, you didn't set up your account again at the time.  Perhaps you had gotten all of your answers before the board switch, and didn't need to post until around 2004.

When we switched from the old board to the new, accounts did not switch over.  Everyone had to set up their account again manually.  Some did it immediately in Nov 2000, and others (like me) hung around on the old board as long as possible, and only switched over when the old board was finally shut down around jan or feb of 2001.  Others (Iike you) may have waited a few years.

So you probably DID have an account called RDak on the old board around 1999, but I don't know if we have a way of looking that up.

I think I'm in the same boat.  I remember posting on the old board with a different username.

I have had the same email address since 99.  I wonder if a search could be done using email address?  I'd like to have my original join date listed....
12/26/2013 9:44:23 AM EDT
[#35]
I think I was a member before my listed join date as well. I know I was banned once and Aimless let me back, but that was under this same account. I don't think it gave me full credit for all the posts I had before though, but maye it did.

Anyway, as far as my other account I think I had.

I didn't have internet here prior to my ex wife going to Afghanistan, and that was the only reason I got it.

We always went to the library in town to surf the net, and I surfed here all the time. I'm pretty sure I had an account, but not a paid one. I know I'd posted on here because we had AR15s before that, about 4 years before she deployed. I went a while without posting and forgot what the name was, or the password, I think. It would have been something wolf, or wolf something though.

The thing is, I was a member at FAL Files, and at M14FiringLine at the same time, and one of the AK forums. I was mostly concerned with FALs and M1a's and AKs since that's what I was shooting, but she was a AR and AK shooter, and in true arfcom fashion, she had both.

Like I said though, we got married in 2000, not long before 9/11, and we went to the library a couple of times a week and surfed the net there, and continued to do that until just before her deployment in 2007.

She posted here and I did too, but I don't remember the screen names, though hers would have been something with a bunny, or either jadedragon or something. Anyway, since I couldn't figure out anything when I did get internet service at home, and I was wanting a paying membership, I went ahead and started over.

One of my problems that goes with my medical issues is memory of certain types of things.

Just wanted to add, I also tried to get back on m14firingline but haven't been able to , no idea of what the username or password was.

Nobody had their "original" join dates from the old board listed.  Everyone "reset" when they joined the new board starting in late 2000.  So even if you used to have an account on the old board, your official join date willbe whenever you signed up for the new board.  I originally joined arfcom in 1999, but my join date is listed as feb 2001, beause that's when I signed up for the new board.

ETA: a search of your email shows only the current account, because the search we use for accounts only go back to the beginning of the new site.  Sorry.
