If you're dumb and have crappy people in your life....and no self control. Seriously, I woke up this morning and after breakfast and presents logged in too see hundreds of posts from all of my friends and family all over the world posting Christmas well-wishes, pictures of their children, happy family moments, and funny and touching things. I watched a video of my friend in Switzerland pulling his kids around the yard in a sled, my mom in New Mexico spend time with my sister who is visiting her, my shooting friends from all over show off their new toys. It made me realize what a wonderful thing that site really is. No drama, no fighting, no one's cheating on anyone. You know why my facebook experience isn't bad? Because I have restricted 100% of the people who cause issues, fight, and cheat on people. And, if they show the slightest hint of annoying drama, I just hide them or unfriend them. I don't post my drama, because Facebook doesn't require me to. I don't post personal information that would be harmful to me, because I don't have to. I can sign up with an alias, I can hide or restrict whatever I do post, should I want to. I follow companies, causes, political and interesting people on FB and find it to be a super effective way to communicate with whoever I want to. People who vilify Facebook mystify me...it's like vilifying this site, or email, or the TV. You guys who hate it do understand you control 100% of what you see and post, right? |
|
I agree. I spend about 25 minutes per week on facebook responding to family and looking at pictures of young relatives that I wouldn't see otherwise.
If you cause drama then you're blocked and gone, no exceptions. It doesn't even have to be drama with me. If you come on posting drama about other people, family, anyone, you are gone. I think the duck dynasty fiasco weeded out the last of the people I didn't need. Had a few gay friends no nuclear with some very biased hateful intolerant opinions. When used properly (like any tool) then facebook is a very valuable thing. |

Very true.
I hid my "friends" with the stupid political views and I hid the girl I knew from school with the love life troubles. While her posts were entertaining: one day - "We are so much in love and happy" next day - "I finally took all of your advice and broke up with the lying cheater". rinse and repeat I found myself rooting for the cycle to continue. |

I guess I could be one of those drama and hate spreading people, if you are a liberal and love Obama. I tell new friends that I am very right wing and have a seething hate for Obama so if that might offend you, you might wanna re-think being one of my contacts. I suspect several family members have me hidden or blocked or whatever and I couldn't care less.
I really believe it can be used to educate people, I actually changed the opinions of several friends regarding Mandela. People I knew where posting that "we have a lost a great leader and humanitarian" bullshit. I just told them not to take my word for it, Google "ANC bombing campaign" "Church street bombing" "necklacing" etc.. 90% of the general public has no idea what a piece of shit he was and if I have 70 friends and they spread the word and so on, it can really spread. |

Quoted: But my high friend count makes me feel popular and wanted. It's those types of people that seem to generate all the drama. My Facebook is rather boring as well. Other than for a couple people, anyone that posted stuff I didn't want to see has been removed. There is no crazy drama because I only friend people who are actually family and friends. I don't send out an invite to every swinging dick I meet or friends of facebook friends etc. |

I have over 2000 gun loving, American loving patriot friends on FB that organize to defeat communism in our country. I will let them know you consider them idiots yeah, I got 87 thousand here who dont say dumb stuff, act stupid and are patriots. the innernet is not for saying and doing dumb stuff. why have a wide open stage for it like facebook? |

Problem is they don't know that or are incapable of handling it. Anytime I see a I hate FB thread I only picture and abject moron , because thats what you have to be in order to have problems with it. Its impossible to have a problem with it if you aren't mildly retarded. Quoted:

Quoted: I have no use for FB. Even this strikes me as a viewpoint arrived by ignorance rather than experience. You can follow your favorite gun & gear companies, sign up for giveaways and exclusive stuff. I've won quite a few things from businesses I like. You can interact with your elected officials or people in your local government, directly often times. You can buy and sell things on your local selling walls. You have no use for any of that? Hell, maybe you just wanna type your manifesto in your cabin, who am I to judge? |

But if he's on Facebook, he can post the manifesto to his wall, then his friends can share it, it goes viral, and everyone subscribes to his newsletter and he changes the world. People get to spy on your life. It's awesome! You're a moron if that doesn't appeal to you. Quoted:

I have no desire to be on Facebook. I just don't get the attraction. If people are reading about your life and you don't want that, yeah you are a moron. Jezus, how the fuck do some of you manage to turn on the computer and find this place. |

I have some artsy friends who post annoying political crap, and if they do it too much, I unsubscribe to their feed. I seek out friends who have similar political views. I enjoy what they post. I Like or friend pages and causes that I like, so I get the news from them and it's what I like. I don't post personal crap that I'll regret later on. It's amazing how well that works most of the time. |
| Mine's pretty boring, good for a chuckle and keeping up with scattered friends and family, various businesses and causes, I'll hide or unfriend someone in heartbeat though, I don't sweat it, it's not near as serious to me as some people. I gather a lot of people don't understand how to use the block functions, that ability is the only reason I can enjoy it. |

I am busy enough as is.
Do not really wanted the added avenue into my daily mainstream. Plus the privacy implications. Not to mention I am pretty low tech and don't have the patience to learn how it works. I am happy to all those who like it ... I just know it ain't my cup a tea |

It can be fun, if you enjoy arguing. You can actually see her getting more emotional. |

You can actually see her getting more emotional. Exactly, and emotion rules the day. She's a very pretty, intelligent woman, with a smokin' hot body. She's also one of the "Walmart = Evil" tards, and went into full-on panic-mode when they were going to build a WM next to her condo in Aurora, CO. She thinks the world of Chomsky, too; a nice, sexy, smart commie. She really and seriously hates Obama because he's not ENOUGH of a socialist. Arguing with her was fun, but I can't say I'm surprised she blocked me. |
It's those types of people that seem to generate all the drama.
