When I bought my LE6920 11 years ago I paid 900$  Today I see prices range from 1200-2000$   My question is how can 1 rifle have a 1000$ difference in price from one that's the same as another?

It's on GB and listed as Last roll marked Carbines manufactured by Colt Defense during the first "Assault Weapons Ban".   Wasn't Colt just Colt mfg at that time?  Also I see one listed as RARE, If it's so rare why do I have one?   I'm not interested in buying just curious about why the same gun has so many prices.

April 2012 - $1099.   I was happy to drive about 115 miles one way to get it.

Some people are willing to pay more for one that is marked. " Restricted to Government and Law enforcement use only."

this, and advertising hype.
if its important TO YOU to have a particular rollmark, then it might be worth the premium TO YOU.
if a seller hypes it up. (last one, not made anymore, limited edition, get it before its banned, etc.) well, thats just retail sales.
if a buyer pays it without doing research, shame on him.

now this is just me, but the Magpul edition is all over (there's athread in here somewhere) right now for $895.
okay (here's where I come in) for $895 i gotta take off the POS Magpul crap  stock and POS BUIS, and replace them with a std stock and a carry handle, buy  a sling, side sling mount, pitch the plastic mag and buy 2 USGI mags. maybe handguards if its the MOE. (i'll pass on the cleaning rod).

now i'm way on the other side of $1k, but nowhere near $2k, not even $1200.

but even IF a guy paid $2k for a 6920, he'll still get a carbine that'll last him the rest of his life.

I agree "but even IF a guy paid $2k for a 6920, he'll still get a carbine that'll last him the rest of his life."
Thanks for all the answers to my goofy question, I was just curious to know what made the same rifle have a 1,000$ price difference and the 6920 needs to be in the record book for only rifle that has way more then one price :)

Inflation but you could get a LE6920, same as you bought, for $995 up to the beginning of this year. Average price was closer to $1200 after the `04 sunset when the prices dropped around `11. Then they went for an average of $1100. When the great panic started is when you saw the standard LE6920 jump upwards of $2K. `13 models lost several features of older models but remain in the $995-1100 range.

Now current pricing reflects different models - standard model is $995-1100, Magpul model $1100-1150, LE6920 SOCOM $1500, SOCOM II is a little more. I dare say Colt's pricing has remained VERY stable over the last 10 years or so; it's supply and demand at the wholesale/retail/resell level that have caused spikes.

These numbers are on target for the Magpul variant. Just bought a LE6920-MP-B for $1130.00

I paid $1049 (shipped) for the same Magpul version a month ago...from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.  Sportsman's dropped the price to $1019 a couple weeks later...and I have seen it as low as $955 recently.  The base LE6920 is routinely available for $895 at GT.

I have seen 6920's for several hundred higher at LGSes and gun shows, but nowhere near 2K.  I wouldn't buy a stick of gum from a shop selling them at 2K.

I got in on the $955 deal for the moe. The lgs quoted me 1100+tax. His pricing from his distributor was 1018. My pricing was better than his cost. Crazy.

I see this shit out here all the time & it pisses me off. It's crazy how scattered the prices are from one shop to the next. Buy mags here, rifle there, glock at one shop fairly priced, etc. Makes no sense.

The going price should be right around a thousand to $1100.
The $2000 prices were during the panic buying last winter.  Some people are probably trying to unload the ones they paid that much for, and there might be a store still hoping to get rid of the rifle they paid $1800 for.

You can get get a 6920 right now from DSG Arms for $995.  And that comes with Magpul rear flip-up, socom stock, QD swivel, and a PMag. Still in the ballpark with what you paid.

My last Colt I spent $1349 USD for a Colt SOCOM I in July from Sportsman Outdoor Warehouse. Came with the side sling mount and  the KAC RIS rail. The only things I replaced was the buttstock with a SOPMOD, trigger guard with a KAC version, and re-barreled it with a Colt 14.5" SOCOM Barrel. Other than that it is stock, and handles awesome. The Colt barrel it came with s going to be used for another project soon.

Where are you seeing $2000 for a 6920? If its an individual seller not a dealer, its probably because they bought it last January during the hysteria and are trying to recoup. A dealer selling at that price better have a ACOG or something attched to it.

Anyone charging 2k for a 6920 is trying to rip you off.  You can find them online between 900-1000 at times, and for 1,100 pretty easily from multiple sources.  My LGS price for a LE 6920 is 1,080.

11 years ago the dollar was worth a hell of a lot more than it is now. You might as well as ask why gold was $400 ten years ago but it's $1200 now.

Gun Broker is rip-off central.com for ignorant people. Those ads are full of straight-up lies for stupid people to swallow. The prices on G.B. means just about jack shit.

6920s can be had for less than $1k today.

The question is not "what is up with the prices of 6920s?", the question is why do you think Gun Broker.com is a legitimate place to price out firearms?

I sold a NIB Bushmaster LEO marked Patrolman's Carbine to a guy yesterday for $1150. I threw in 7 used USGI mags into the deal also.

Same thing with magazine.  Some people will pay more for used mags that are marked during the AWB, than the same type mag in NIB.
