We had some issue with these and they were limited. That's fine but would adding a second quote button for just the post and not the tree be helpful? Then when you hit the limit it would cut back on editing.

Is it that hard to highlight all except for the top line and the text that you want to keep from the new post and delete the rest? I know it's like wizardly and stuff

I try to edit them via phone but it usually ends up a garbled mess so I just close the tab. ARF has missed out on so much wisdom over time.

I hate the limit on quote trees.  I do like the OP's suggestion though.

The quote tree limit stinks.  It leads to confusion and really throws off the flow of conversation.

What was the problem with quote trees?  Serious question.

It makes a mess for people trying to view the site from a phone.

Ironically, it's also very frustrating to attempt to edit the quote trees when replying from a phone.

Fixed. Once again, my phone screws me over.

ETA: A little trivia- My first warning was from a thread flagrantly violating the quote rule because someone complained.

Because the membership were too lazy, or weren't skilled enough to edit their quotes down. This was would lead to extremely large quotes. This reached a level that it became disruptive to the site.

Of course there are some that complain about the change, as people hate change.
