In this thread we will discuss your first experience with breaking a bone.

Which bone was it and how did it happen?

Go.

Left arm, monkey bars, 1st grade

Left femur, 2 years old. Took off in a little red wagon down a hill when my mom wasn't looking

Toe but that was based on my medical expertise as a teenager.  Never saw a doc.  Could've just been a bad jam but it sure looked ugly.  Ran into a chair leg chasing my little bro.  I was gonna kick his ass for something but can't remember what.

For sure break was two bones in my right middle finger resulting in a dislocation, tendon and ligament tears.  That one required surgical repair.  Broke it bowling in high school.

Tail. Roller skating party.

Only break...

As for breaking other peoples... Playing soccer. Trip, go head first into someones leg. Snap the shin guard and their leg with my head. Didn't even have a bruise on the noggin.

[#6]
Spiral fracture of the fibula.  Got taken into the boards during a hockey game in college.  My skate blade went into the boards and held my foot in place while my leg twisted.  Thinking of taking a handful of dry spaghetti and twisting it.
12/10/2013 2:39:42 PM EDT
[#7]
Tibea fracture.  Fell from a ladder.

Now 10+ years after surgery, and I'm still a happy camper.   My leg is as good as new.

A couple of screws in my leg usually set off the airport/courthouse metal detectors.

nose, high school wrestling
12/10/2013 2:40:03 PM EDT

Left wrist, spring of 1972, fell off of a Volkswagen Beetle going about 25 mph.  Don't ask!

I was 5. My dad built a trampoline and my cousin double-bounced me. I landed 10 feet from the trampoline and broke my right leg in three places.

[#11]
Right pinky - punched a stop sign.
12/10/2013 2:41:47 PM EDT
[#12]
Left ulnar bone, 11 years old. It was sticking out of my tricep. I picked up my bike with my good arm and walked home and made mom scream in terror. I was in shock still, and not feeling it quite yet.
12/10/2013 2:41:51 PM EDT
[#13]
Right-hand ring finger bone just above the wrist, punching a guy in the head.
12/10/2013 2:42:06 PM EDT
[#14]
Right wrist rollerblading around kindergarten or first grade.
12/10/2013 2:42:40 PM EDT
[#15]
middle finger during a football game, 8th grade
12/10/2013 2:43:42 PM EDT
[#16]
No bones broken in my 40.5 years of living.

I think I have an adamantium skeleton.
12/10/2013 2:43:49 PM EDT
[#17]
Left arm, broken radius from trying to jump out of a swing and my shirt caught on the swing. I was maybe 7. Walked around for a few days with a broken arm because the Dr didn't think I actually broke anything.

ETA: I've broken way more bones since then.
12/10/2013 2:44:25 PM EDT
[#18]
Femur, 16, slolom watersking. There was a high speed impact, the ski twisted the femur until it exploded. The local ER ortho was talking amputation. Then my parents got a second opinion. A doctor who just returned from Vietnam. He said "pffftttt, I can fix that". Years later I am doing triathlons at 59.
12/10/2013 2:44:30 PM EDT
[#19]
Right pinky finger playing dodge ball in 7th grade.
12/10/2013 2:44:31 PM EDT
[#20]
I've been trampled by a llama and pulled an arcade machine on my leg like a dumbass, but no breaks.
12/10/2013 2:44:35 PM EDT
[#21]
Hot make-up in a j-box. Wires slipped through the fingers on my left hand; grounded on my right.
Hung up and hurting; leaned back and took a 14' fall.

Ladder caught my legs and twisted me head down. Fractured wrists, knocked out two teeth, and bit through my lower lip(8 stitches).

Happened in '95-'96... so I was about 20-21.
12/10/2013 2:44:48 PM EDT
[#22]
left forearm both bones, start of first grade, it required surgery and took f*cking 3+ months to heal :(
12/10/2013 2:44:52 PM EDT
[#23]
Collar Bone. I was 7 or 8 years old.  Chasing my brother down a steep bank that was wet and I was barefoot running like hell. Slipped and fell forward and landed on my shoulder. Heard a loud snap and then started to hurt like hell.
Wore a full upper body cast all summer long...... sucked ass.

Was the first of more than a few broken bones for me.
12/10/2013 2:45:31 PM EDT
[#24]
Left forearm, must have been around age 1 but we don't know for sure as I couldn't talk yet to tell mom it hurt. But it was caught on an x-ray for some other injury but the doc said it had almost healed. I am sure in this day and age my mom probably would have been under suspension for child abuse

Right femur age 2 1/2 spent several weeks in traction and had a body cast on for several more weeks. Lived in Tampa Florida at the time. It was kinda rank when the cast came off

I feel sorry for my mom. I was the broken bone kid and my brother was all about stitches!
12/10/2013 2:46:16 PM EDT

1st, collar bone when i was 5-6

2nd, kinda. thumb cut it off on a table saw.
12/10/2013 2:46:22 PM EDT

12 years old broke my wrist playing hockey.

Since then I've broke my other wrist, nose 3 times and tail bone.  I'm currently 3 days post op for having ACL reconstruction and meniscus repaired.

[#29]
right femur, five years old.
One of my older brothers tripped me,
it really was an accident, he didn`t mean to,
oldest bro did not know it was broken, made me put
weight on it so`s i could walk home.
it pushed the ends closer together. The docs wouldn`t
show the X-rays to Momma, but told her that leg would
probably end up shorter.

Traction worked, legs are the same.

left arm broken twice, playing.
left hand recently broken, fell playing tennis.
fractured coccyx, motorcycle wreck in 76.

ol scruff is ol.......

Some sort of lower back fracture when I was about 9 or 10.  Never told my parents.  Just couldn't run for the whole summer.  Didn't join any sports that summer either.  Told them I didn't feel like playing.  I figured they had enough worries without worrying about me.  Still bothers me a bit but it's been over 50 years now.

Radial head (elbow) when I was 19. Slipped and caught myself with my right arm fully locked out. Had a party to go to that night so I didn't go to the doctor until the next morning. . Worst part about it was trying to straighten my arm and flip my hand palm up for the xray. .

Eta: I'm sure I fractured fingers numerous times playing football in middle and high school, but I didn't get X-rays for them.

Left wrist fracture.  Turned left into an on-coming pickup truck as a teenager.

Totaled my '79 Cutlass, and the car and I ended up in the rose bushes in the yard from the direction I had turned.  Spun me like three times.

Truck driver was relieved I was alive.

First time, skiing in Austria, the classic boot top spiral fracture of tibia and fibula. In the early 70's before bindings technology improved to solve this problem. Surgery to wire the pieces together, then tonsillectomy before removal of wires.

Then started road-racing motorcycles in the late 80's.

Broke a lot of stuff, on a regular basis.

I fractured my left patella sliding into third base in Babe Ruth.  Needless to say It was a bad slide, and we had shitty fields. The infield dirt was almost like gravel
