After a few years of lurking, thought I might introduce myself to the ArfCom community.
I started shooting again about 4 years ago after my brother, who's been a fairly active shooter for about the last 10 years, talked me into picking up a Springfield XDM 9mm & joining him at the range. My wife and I began making trips to the range frequently after that & we (by "we" I mean "mostly me") decided we were interested in picking up an AR15 and learning more about shooting long guns. This website has been an incredibly valuable resource for learning about guns and shooting in general. I sincerely appreciate the effort it takes to maintain this site and the access to knowledge that it provides. I was in the military from 85-95 and qualified on a variety of weapons (45, M16, shotgun, M60) for the purpose of standing watch while in port & at sea. However, I was a submariner and not "qualified" in the way that Army and Marine vets are. While I shot M16 on a few occasions, the only time I ever held one was while standing watch overseas. Strangely, we were not allowed to actually load the weapons until after we were shot at, something I never quite understood. I served on the USS Houston (SSN 713) from 91 till I got out & was a sonar tech. I'm in this photo, tall guy outboard on port side fairwater plane. I was deck div LPO at the time and did the topside rigging prior to the rest of the crew coming topside. Photo was snapped in 1992 during fleet week in San Diego harbor: http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab316/Highline1971/882428_4767472110364_590819501_o_zps08e67b5a.jpg After reading what you all had to say about what made a good "all around" AR, I decided to get a Colt 6920 in January, 2013. I've put about 1,500 rounds through it since then without a problem & have learned a lot about shooting. I recently added a primary arms red dot with a 3x magnifier + a Magpul MOE handguard & VFG. I also recently picked up a UTG bipod for bench shooting that do not appear in the pics. Also shown is my Benelli Supernova Tactical pump. Oh, and sorry for being a 13'r. Cheers! Jeff T. |

Is that the ADM mount on your magnifier? How do you like it? (Welcome, BTW.) Yes, it's the ADM mount. I like it, but it swivels out of the way very easily. I'd be concerned about it moving accidentally if I ever had to carry the rifle on a sling. Having never done so, I've never had a problem with it. |

If I was you I would of waited a few months so not to be forever branded a 13'er LOL. But welcome aboard! The 14ers are going to be worse. Crap! Lets hope not! They will have to be pretty fucking bad to be worse. |

Quoted: I like the curtains. Y'know, to this day I can post a pic of dozens of nice guns lined up along a wall... and somebody will give me grief about the wallpaper they are propped against. OP, that is the kind of place you have stumbled upon, may God have mercy on your soul. |

Howdy!
