I want to find a really big Enterprise D kit... I think it would be fun over the winter to build something like that. Those are going to be hard to find, AMT did the molds for most the Star Trek stuff including the Enterprise D, they lost the franchise and the molds have been in limbo for years. Outside of ebay the 2 best places to look would be these two guys http://www.rare-planedetective.com/ http://www.deanshobbystop.com/ I know both realtime, they deal in used (not built. just bought and stored) model collections. You'll have to use the phone though, their websites are seldom updated this time of year since they sell at scale model contests/swapmeets around the country and don't keep things updated.....plus they could get something in 1 weekend and move it the next weekends show. Use my name, I run one of the larger type contests these guys attend and have know both for longer than any of us want to admit |

Ouch ...about what I expected though given how hard that is to find. Any way he goes we'll need to replace the kit decals, I did the Defiant that timeframe and those decals SUCKED. Starship Modeler carries replacements for them IIRR (I do mainly WWII Luftwaffe and RAF stuff but also used to be a show vendor so I know a lot of guys ) |

Yep. I use JT Graphics decals. Good stuff, and they have the lifeboat decals on the sheets. ETA: AMT E-D with JT Graphics decals http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/chrishartman/20120205155345.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f178/chrishartman/20120205171925.jpg Quoted:

I did that Defiant I mentioned on a commission build (got screwed too but that's another rant) and that was enough starships for me, I'll stick with airbrushing Luftwaffe camo
Couple of 1/72nd Bf 109's I did a year or so ago |
| The new AMT/Round 2 company still has the rights for it in North America. They re-released the 1/1400 Enterprise D a few years ago in clear plastic and should still be easy to find.Revell has the European rights and released a 1/600? scale models of the original Enterprise and Klingon Cruiser. Polar Lights makes a 1/350 scale of the original Enterprise and the rebuild Enterprise from the movies which is about 3 feet long built up. |
