Despite its questionable utility in a historical context, I wish that the 20mm cannon tail gunner position had never been deleted from the B-52. Quite the contrary, I think the tail gunner position should be restored with an upgraded 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger, and maybe given a few A-A missile pointed backwards and under the command of the tail gunner. I can hardly imagine anything that would say FUCK YOU louder and clearer than a B-52 that's as lethal to the enemy chasing it as it is to the targets on the ground.  Having an AMRAAM fired into your face by the tail gunner on a 50+ year old bomber would be extremely demoralizing.  |
