Buncha drunks but they were the definition of cool back in the day. From what I understand, Dean Martin had apple juice in his glass, & he wasn't much of a drinker. This is true. They still rocked and I'm listening to a Rat Pack album now. |

They still rocked and I'm listening to a Rat Pack album now. Probably hard for people to believe considering his rep for hitting the bottle but it was true. He was known for cutting out on the partying while Frank, Sammy and the rest would go all night long because Dean wanted to be up early hitting golf balls and not nursing a hangover. He was pretty much a real family man whose idea of night time fun was watching old western movies on tv and having chocolate chip cookies and milk. Don't get me wrong, he was no angel but definitely not the drunk he liked to pretend to be. |

They've been replaced by tshirt wearing casuals |

I got to hang out at the Ambassador Hotel a few years before it was torn down. It was the Rat Packs west coast spot. My detachment stayed in the Bungalow next to Sammy Davis Jr's. which even had a service tunnel to the Kitchen. We weren't supposed to wander the grounds, but I ducked into the Cocoanut grove real quick. So much history gone. |

Quoted: Worthless fucks worshiped by a bunch of dupes. How do you define worthless? Sinatra alone donated 10 of millions of dollars to worthy charities throughout his career. Dean Martin was also a big supporter of Children's charities, and the USO, among others. He raised a son that became an Air Force pilot, and was killed in a training flight crash back in the 80's. I'd be interested to hear what you've done with your life. FWIW, both of them were raised in hard working, blue collar families. No silver spoons. They earned what they had, and happily gave away much of what they earned. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. were all just human, that's for sure, but they also had some very valuable, and unique qualities that drove them to overcome humble beginnings, and adversities. That's something to admire, in any man. |

He might have started drinking too much after his son died. He was a fighter pilot and crashed in the desert somewhere. I hear that pretty much was downhill for Dean. |

The best music, ever, has come from the Pack. I love watching any movie with Sinatra in it and every song he has sung I enjoy listening to. I truly wish their style was back in style. To me the definition of the early 60's is Sinatra, Martin and Davis Jr.
