So I have business clients that want to friend me but I don't want them to know about my personal life. If I don't accept their friend request, I feel like I might offend them. Is everyone strictly friends and family or do you include business associates?

Add them, but restrict what they can see on your page to almost nothing.

I just tell them that I only use Facebook to share pictures with family.

Create a second page if you must. In any event, business and personal stays separate.

Make a business page and friend them with that.

This is the one place where Google+ has an advantage over FB.

Their "circles" feature lets you isolate personal and professional friends/acquaintances from each other.

You can do that on FB, it's just not as intuitive as +.

You can make a group that doesn't get to see almost anything.

I do this with minor relatives and chain of command types.

Mostly I just don't add people.

Befriend them.

Then make them "Restricted friends". They can't see any of the shit you post unless you allow it.

I have LinkedIn for business...and a living room for friends and family.

Just don't have Facebook.

Then you won't be put in that position.

Or you can use the privacy feature to block your page from anyone you want, even those on your friends list. How do you think I still keep my job after friending my CEO?

And my life is so much better since getting off fb
9/19/2013 3:32:04 PM EDT

If you're using Facebook, keep it personal, keep the info you share minimal, and don't mix with business.... EVER. If you need a Business face in Facebook, create a profile for that purpose and act appropriately there...

Assume everything you do online will be seen by the last person you want to see it. Then, act accordingly. Posting too many pictures of your home, your valuables, your safe, your area... all way too much information for the WWW. The less people know about you, the better off you will be. Your life may depend on it one day...

Deleted Facebook and Instagram a few weeks ago. Much better. Mutual friends of ex-bitch cannot pass information along.

ETA LinkedIn is cool, but I hardly use it. Its got all current information, I'm just not networking with anyone but a few previous coworkers.
