Now if you could just learn to post pictures.... ya I just started using imgur because photobucket sucks donkey dick did find this 1900 Indian head on the surface of my garden a few years back http://i.imgur.com/2CCCFxe.jpg There is an old homestead site on the family farm I cant wait to hit not far from there my dad was plowing up virgin ground probably in the 70's and found 2 very old grave stones. using a garrett ace 350 That's pretty cool. I never found anything with my metal detector besides a throwing knife I forgot I lost and a 55 gallon drum that used to be a porta potty. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Quoted: I found this the other day. It was on an abandoned WW2 training camp that has been reclaimed by centerpoint irrigation farms. It was pretty deep and as soon as I pulled it out I thought "UXO!". It is about 5" long and about 1 1/2" in circumference. the tip is finely threaded and mashed up a bit. Base has a hole in it. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/threewood/Metal%20Detecting/IMAG0244_zps927d106e.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/threewood/Metal%20Detecting/IMAG0245_zps8ea66220.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/threewood/Metal%20Detecting/IMAG0246_zps991f779e.jpg |

Actually I buried the thing in the desert from whence it came. |

| My grandfather-in-law is a well known civil war digger. He is one of only a handful who has permission from the feds to dig battlefields on the east coast. He found a small cannon a few years ago near Culpeper, VA. His basement is full of civil war stuff he finds on private property and he sends me boxes of stuff every year, like bayonets, belt buckles, Enfield/Springfield lockplates, buttons, canteens, bridals and saddle brass, etc. One day I'm going to go out and dig with him while he can still walk around. |

My wife gave me a ceramic jar when I first started detecting and told me she would be impressed when it was full of coins. Its full. I have found some weird and interesting stuff. Old decayed pocket knives, horse tack, even an old Koin Pac prophylactic container. Its a fun hobby. I never have found anything really valuable yet though. |
I used to do it all the time, then I got married.![]() Used to go all the time. Belonged to a club, if there is one near you, check them out. Clubs can get you access to places you not normally get to detect. Houses built from 1949 to 1968 were the most yielding of silver coins. Some parks were gold mines after a free concert. Found a lot of weird shit in strange places. I use a Whites Spectrum XLT. |

It gets addicting BTW, what detector are you using? Had mine since last November, still no silvers, although I have found a lot of silver plated jewelry and one sterling charm. Oldest coin is a 1910 wheat cent. |

Cool. Tag to see all the goodies.
I dig holes in yards and just all over all the time and rarely find coins. I have never found any old ones (thousands of holes). Gonna get a metal detector to use at work one of these days (it would be good for establishing the boundaries of historic sites). |
