Good folks, I'm in the process of selling my 50 Beowulf upper.  I owned it for five or six years and probably shot it 20-25 times.  I'm trying to determine what to do with the cash I make from the sale of this upper (should be around $800).  There is a nice Ruger Alaskan chambered in 375 Ruger in my local gun shop that I would like to pick up.  Mind you I have absolutely zero need for such a powerful firearm....but I did not need the 50 Beowulf either.  While I do live in AK, I will more than likely leave/move within the next year, but I do hope to move back up here once I leave the service.  Still, having a firearm chambered in 375 Ruger would be a great conversation piece I think (more so than the 50 Beowulf).  The Ruger would get some use this fall while camping and next spring (camping).  It is a pretty handy rifle (hogue stock, black stainless, 20 inch barrel)....but would certainly kick like a mule.  I have a 338 Win Mag that currently covers my hunting requirements, but is just too long to be considered a "camp rifle"...in my opinion.

My other option is to buy an ACOG with the money made from the 50 Beowulf upper.  An ACOG would be nice, but I plan on picking one of those up after I sell my KSG...so I have a plan in place to buy an ACOG.....just farther down the road.

Of course the money could always be put away/saved/spent on more useful items, but where is the fun in that?  Your thoughts are appreciated.  Thanks.

I have a Howa in 375 Ruger.  Love that rifle.  Recoil is not bad and you get slightly better ballistics out of a shorter barrel than the longer barreled 375 H&H.  The 275 gr. or was it 270 gr. SP points will fulfill all your hunting needs but the 300 gr solids are the tits.

Can you find ammo for your rifle at your location?  375 Ruger is plentiful up here, but I fear it would be scarce as hen teeth back down south.

Not much longer than an 18" pump shotgun....but who are we kidding here?  When has a 375 ever been a camp gun?  :)

I have found it in weird places and it was more common than I thought it would be. Generally I can mail order it from Cabelas all the time.
