Im only 2 episodes in. Ill probably rewatch them, since when I watched them this morning, I had my nephew and couldnt pay full attention.
So, what sort of accent does that one Officer have? The one who was telling everyone to "police their moo-staches"? They need subtitles for his scenes.
I like it a lot so far. Im not military, but I keep hearing how accurate it is. I read that a few of the actors are former mil, including "Fruity Rudy". Not sure why it took me this long to watch it. Someone imbedded a clip from it recently in another thread here. A clip where the reporter is serpentining as he ran out of an enemy snipers line of fire. That made me want to finally watch it. ![]() Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

He invented Sixta's accent to be over the top ridiculous. The real Sgt Maj doesn't sound anything like that but it was done to make him larger than life. Over the top indeed. I had to rewind a few of his scenes to pick up what he said. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Probably one of my favorite scenes. I didn't catch it the first time I watched it |

You should read both books: Generation Kill from the point of view of the Rolling Stone reporter and One Bullet Away from the point of view of LT Fick. Quoted:

You should read the book first. The HBO series was really good, though. You should read both books: Generation Kill from the point of view of the Rolling Stone reporter and One Bullet Away from the point of view of LT Fick. Very much so. Fills in a lot of plot holes. A shame Fick turned into a Dem shill after leaving the service. |
| I got to go to the premier of this series at the Camp Pendleton base theater. They had all the HBO staff there as well as the actors and the Marines themselves. I have never seen a more accurate (Hollywood) depiction of Marine life. HBO knocked this one out of the park. |

I'm talking Bush knew, ban corporations, seize the oil companies, put Cheney in jail, outlaw religion, atheist types. Any theories? |

Something I have never been able to figure out. I probably know 50 current/former military members between family and friends. Of the Army/Navy/Air Force guys, one is a Democrat. He is nearing 50, was a Ranger, and is your "classic Liberal" type. Of the Former Marines I know, probably 50% are raging libtards. I know a Ranger in his late 50s almost exactly like you describe. |

Great series, worth rewatching. In fact, once I finish The Shield, I plan on rewatching the episodes. Quoted:
As the great warrior poet Ice Cube once said: If the day does not require an AK; it is good. Great series, worth rewatching. In fact, once I finish The Shield, I plan on rewatching the episodes. Thats another great series. One of the many complete series I've been able to complete compliments of OIF and OEF. |

A shame Fick turned into a Dem shill after leaving the service. Well he went to a fairly conservative college (Dartmouth) so I'd say it was his experience in the USMC that shaped his views. I know I went into the Army with libertarian type views and left with a decidedly statist\big government view. When you're held responsible for fuckups over which you have virtually no control (Joe drives drunk, you get relieved) it makes you want to exercise as much control over everything as possible. Politicians are similarly held responsible for things over which they have virtually no control (school shootings, drunk driving, Syrians killing each other) so naturally they gravitate towards trying to exert as much control over the populace as possible because essentially, it's what the populace is demanding. Burn me down, Arfcom. |

That song is straight homosexual, country music, special olympic gay.
I liked the bit where the two Marines are making up the dialog between one of the officers, the terp, and the local. Found it: LOLOLOL |
