To all those who have helped.

Thank you to GoatBoy, RBAD, BlackDog714, and HiramRanger.

For those that don't know, my family has come under some difficult times as of late. My wife and I have just had out first baby. Caitlyn June, September 2, 2002. Because of this, my wife had taken Maternity Leave to be home with our baby for her first few months. Then last week, I was layed off from work due to being low man on the Totem Pole, and a lack of work.

Late last week I received my paycheck, and my wife and I went over our finances. $30 buck to our names was all that was left over, we have exhausted all our emergency funds, and have had to even borrow from friends. We went around our house looking for things to sell off. We narrowed it down to my computer and my firearms, and we both feel that firearms are more of a necessity than a computer. So I have put up my computer/printer/software up for sale.

Since that, my wife has had to go back to work early so we have some type of income, and I have turned in to Mr. Mom. (The only thing good to come out of this.)

A few questions were asked by RBAD to me about my situation, and he, as well as others, have been VERY gracious to my family.

So my wife and I would like to thank you for all your support and help in this tough time.

But we respectfully ask you to stop sending us help via PayPal. We do not know when/if we will be able to pay you back.

To all those who have helped, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,

-UHLEK-

sorry to hear of your problems. Wish i could help. As for paying people back, For the folks here i sent aid to i do not expect it. For me it's aid to brother in arms. All i expect is that when the times comes that you could assist someone else do it.

Although most of us here have never met face to face we are a family. And we do try to take care of our own.

Keep the faith.... Never let the bastards get you down.

It has turned into a God-Send.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply to you all.

First off, thank you. All your contributions have been a God-Send in our time of need. My wife and daughter send their thanks.

Second, you have all gotten me into trouble.  Her boss called me earlier, he said something like "Did something happen? Is everthing okay at home?" I told him "Yes, why?" He told me that she ran out of her office crying and upset.
I called her and asked her what was going on, fearing it had something to do with her mother or sister, or maybe she was upset about her father (he passed away 2 days before our daughter was born). She told me that she had been getting emails all day concerning her Paypal account. She wanted to know who all these generous people were, and when they wanted us to pay them back. I directed her to this page, but she isn't a member (yet), and couln't access it. I'll show her when she gets home.

So to all of you, thank you. And let it be on your heads that you made a beautiful young lady cry today. [:D]

They have ignored my prior e-mails to them.
(as they have ignored every prior member in need of assistance)

I am now asking for a full refund of funds that I have contributed.  I want it donated to -UHLEK-'s family or to the NRA.  Supposedly, my request has been turned over to the "committee".
(If I don't hear back soon, *I* will be turning *MY* request over to the proper authorities  ---> to have a full and comprehensive investigation done of Castle Arms, Tim Greene & John Spake)

I'd really suggest to the members that donated to this said "fund" ask for a full accounting and refund !   (send the money to a good cause, the NRA, a member in need, ANYONE...)

Would you believe???
Their little "Slush Fund" failed to pay out any funds in over two years!

Look, I gotta say something. To their credit Grin and Anti have posted an exact accounting of all the funds.
They have previously asked for members to form a committee to decide how to disburse the funds. I believe there is now a committee for that purpose.
I  honestly believe these guys are NOT stealing the money.
Stop posting innuendoes that they are unless you can prove it.
I believe they are honestly trying to do the right thing. It was nearly a year ago they asked for help to form a committee to decide how to disburse the funds and no one has stepped up till recently.
Get a grip you guys. 1200 bucks ain't a great deal of money. I am NOT rich but I COULD cover 1200 tomorrow if I had to.
PLEASE dont let this thread degenerate into an attack on anyone. If you want to reply, send me an IM.
Thanks,
BP
PS: My donation to UHLEK and the Brothers in Arms fund is NON REFUNDABLE!

Sorry I have not replied back earlier, I have spent most of the day emailing Thank You's to people who have sent me Gifts. I also want every one of you to know that if you are ever in need I want you to contact me, and I promise to do EVERYTHING I can to help you out.

It was amazing to find out today that I do have an extended family, one that cares and is willing to bend over backwards to help me and my family when we need it the most. Brings a tear to my eye thinking about it.

I promise, you all as my witnesses, when another is in a bind and needs help, I will be there. No questions asked, what goes around comes around.

You are all truely generous.

So just as an update, I wanted to say Thank You to everbody here that has helped us out, and thank you to everyone who has me and my family in their prayers.

This day has gone from depressing to extremely hopeful by a little caring and generosity from those of you I now consider my friends.

Thank you, for everthing.

captainpooby:

Just a quick FYI:

The reason I posted this information is that I want anyone willing to assist this family to ASSIST THEM DIRECTLY.

Every time we go through something like this (a member in need), our great family of members foolishly donate $$ to the CASTLE ARMS FUND with the anticipation that this money will be immediately and equitably be distributed.

-Uhlek-'s family is a prime example of why the "Fund" was insitituted.

I have not been satisfied with John Spake and Tim Greene's response to my private and public inquiries on the matter of the fund disposition.

They collected money under the guise of assisting members in need of assistance, and have failed miserably in that task.

I simply request a full refund of my contributions!   (They have ignored these requests on several occasions now)

I keep hearing that "$1200 is not alot of money".
Well, regardless of the sum, it was money collected from honest, decent, generous and hard working members of our community!
That money could have helped MANY of the members who have been in dire need.

Since Castle Arms is no longer associated/affiliated with AR15.com, and since they NEVER GAVE OUT A DIME to needy members if this site, the money should be refunded immediately!
(or given to a LEGITIMATE organization -->  ie:  the NRA OR, THIS FAMILY!)

The members that wish for Tim and John to KEEP THEIR donated funds can simply notify them of this request.

Judging by the amount of e-mail that I am currently sifting through, there are MANY members who feel the way that I do:  DISGUSTED at the repeated deafening silence of John Spake and Tim Greene!

Bottom line. They had better ACT and act fast.
Time is ticking away....

UHLEK, this is the first I am hearing about your troubles. Your family's well being is a priority so don't worry about accepting help from the brotherhood. Our fearless leaders and members are first class people as you know by now. In the spirit of the brotherhood I have sent you a little something to help out, from my family to yours. Payback is not an option, but consider helping out another brother when you can. I hope your situation turns around for the better, your family is precious. BTW why are we not using the Brothers In Arms Fund, this would be another perfect instance where it could be used and frankly this is why we all donated to the fund. I think we had a few examples of brothers who were in need of assistance where the fund would have helped out. This is day two of this thread and I just don't understand why we have no response from the person holding the account. I say we give the money to someone who will use it for it's intended purpose. Too many people here have gone through hard times that could have been made a little easier had the fund ben disbursed. Since GoatBoy is probably very busy most of the time I vote that we give the money to RBAD if he has no objection, IMO he has been one of the members who has proven to be a class act and has been on top of many situations similar to this one. At least with Rich you know the money will be used when it is needed. Sorry UHLEK, I didn't mean to turn this into another subject but it is very relevant.

I appologize for the temporary hijacking of this topic, but...

RBAD,

There was some discussion about the Brothers In Arms fund, and one of the guidelines suggested and (IIRC) agreed upon was that it would be reserved for emergency funds OTHER THAN loss-of-job issues.  For example: an injury or other grave situation.  The reason being is that "loss-of-job" distributions are (correctly, IMO) considered "less-than-emergencies."

Having said that, I have *no* problem with threads like this for folks who HAVE fallen into unfortunate, but non-emergency circumstances, and am more than happy to help.  So are a lot of us, as this thread has made clear.  I don't see a need to change the current system.

If we do have a REAL emergency, and the BIA fund isn't used, THEN I'd be concerned.

Okay all, an update.

First off, thank you to everyone for the overwhelming support you have given my family and I, it is appreciated more than you can imagine.

Second, I went to do my physical for INS Border Patrol Agent today. After a very embarassing episode due to drawning blood, everthing else went great. (They told me not to eat/drink 8 hours prior, and I subsequently passed out cold after they took my blood.) The Doctors and nurses did an entire physical on me, and I passed everthing with flying colors. They even cleared me on that which the Army discharged me for. The only thing that I didn't do so well on is the pushups, probably due to being a slug for the past year or so. [:D]

After I finished that I picked my wife up from work and we went to vote. [;)]

Let's hope the GOP gets majority in both House and Senate!![bounce]

So tonight I had to put my Computer on eBay. [:(] I just can't justify owning it when I need to keep a roof over my families head, and food on the table.

I just wanted to stop and take a minute to thank everybody again, and tell you all how things have been going.[:)]

So from my family to yours, Thank you and God Bless,

The -UHLEK-'s [;)]

UHLEK, if you sell your computer, I have a 6 year old NEC Pentium 133 system sitting in the basement that you are welcome to use until things are looking better. It's not much, but it would enable you to continue to visit and post on the forums. It has a 56k modem and I also still maintain a Verizon Internet dialup account with 150 hours each month as a backup to my DSL and to provide remote access. This service is currently unused and you would be more than welcome to use it to save a few bucks on your own internet access until you can get back on your feet. This site can often be a lifesaver just to help provide some relief by allowing you to get your mind off of other issues.

Good luck with job search.
