As an old man I personally think that the worst thing I could have done to myself and did was to get hooked on tobacco. I believe that cigarrettes are my nemises and will likely kill me.

I want to tell myself that at least it's not crack cocaine or heroin but I know it is just as bad (well close anyway, I don't actually know of anyone that died of a cigarette overdose yet.) But still I should not do it. But I still do dammit.

E-Cigs. They aren't as good for you as air, but they sure as hell are better for you than inhaling smoldering, chemical laced vegetable matter into your lungs.

E-Cig stores are starting to pop up in larger cities now. If you happen to have one near you, go there and talk to them. They'll be able to lessen the learning curve compared to trying to figure out what you need or want just checking out various websites. Stay away from the cheap POS they sell at gas stations, I'm talking an actual retail establishment that specializes in this stuff.

I personally get most of my supplies online from DFW Vapor. If you're new to E-Cigs, get their phone number from their website and give them a call. I've found them to be pretty helpful and willing to talk.

E-cig seriously, I was smoking a pack a day as well as chewing a can o cope every other day and I have not used either since. I went through withdrawals for a few days even with the nicotine in the ecig which I attribute to the plethora of other chemicals in cigs.

If I can do it I know you can too.

It is never too late to quit; I'm sure you can do it.  My father smoked regularly since he was 13.  Diagnosed with esophagus cancer six years ago and quit that day.

Cancer is killing him (he probably won't make Christmas), but I believe quitting gave him a few more years with the family.

This might sound bad but, quitting is easy, I've even started back smoking for a month to show some relatives how easy it really is.

the bottom line is you will always want one, just the way it is.

So you made a conscious decision to start smoking, all you have to do is make a conscious decision to stop.

Just pick a day, the day before just don't get drunk & smoke 3 packs, you can't quit in the middle of the day, go to bed that night, & when you wake up the next morning, you just don't smoke anymore, its simple, its all between the ears.

Yes.  Smokers are drug addicts.
Young people try it because it seems like an "adult" thing to do - Forbidden, rebellious, cool.  They become physiologically addicted to nicotine, and psychologically to the sensation of inhaling smoke.  They become unaware of how bad it smells to non-smokers, and how their smoke irritates others.
As is the case with all other drug addictions, they feed the habit financially and engage in rationalizations and denial in order to avoid the trauma of quitting.  An e-cig is a crutch that allows consumption of nicotine to continue unabated, and in areas where smoking is banned in a lot of places allows people to get their nicotine fix more freely and openly than they can with a cigarette.

In California smoking in bars and restaurants is generally prohibited, but more and more people are puffing away on e-cigs wherever they please.  I suspect they're going to end up shooting themselves in the foot like the Open Carry people did.  The legislature's knee-jerk reaction to any proposed crisis is to ban something.

FPFNI. 1yr today smoke free thanks to e cig.  Down to 3 mg/ day nicotine from half pack+ per day camel lights. Almost done with nicotine all together. All thanks to e cig. Buy an EgoT and some Ego clearomizers from any vendor, then try some tobacco flavored juices until you find one that you can stand for more than a day...it gets better from there on out.
