Woo hoo! I got my C&R license, in a mere 10 days after I sent in the application.

Question for you C&R holders -- next to the line where my signature goes is a line labeled "Title". Since I'm an individual and not a company, do I leave this blank, or write in "Self" or what?

Similarly, near the top is a line labeled "Company". Just leave this blank?

I don't want any problems the first time I use this thing, and have ATF agents jumping out of helicopters onto the roof of my house, then falling off, getting injured, and then sueing me.

Also for you experienced C&R guys -- I assume if I buy an old Mosin rifle or some such thing and have it shipped to my house, I would have to take a day off work and be at home to sign for delivery, assuming my wife would not be able to sign. Correct?

Delivery guy isn't going to care.  If it has "signature required" all he cares is that an adult signs it.

You can leave it blank, or some put "collector." As for getting your rifle, you can only have it shipped to the address on the license but I am pretty sure your wife can sign for it. Also, you can have them hold it for pickup at the UPS facility.

WTF - over!?

It took like 4 months for me to get mine and over two months for the renewal. Who at the ATF did you blow to get yours in only 10 days?

And if he's like the tool that delivers to my house he'll loudly proclaim "OH, DID YOU ORDER ANOTHER GUN?"

Fucking moron.

I didn't sign the original.  I only sign the copies as I make them.

I just pick deliveries up at the Hub.  It's pretty close to my house.

DO NOT SIGN THE ORIGINAL!!! Leave it blank! Make photocopies of that, and sign those!

Unless you have an LLC, S-Corp, or other legal entity that the C&R is in the name of...leave that all blank. It's all going to you.

This. DO NOT sign the original! I think it even says it on the license to not sign the original. You make copies and sign the copies.

The scanner is your friend. Make a photocopy of the original, sign it, and scan it into a pdf. Scan the unsigned original into a pdf too. Then out your original away with your bound book and use the pdf copies to make reproductions or to send to distributors.

I wouldn't write anything in "title", nor would I put anything in "company" unless you applied for the FFL under a business name (partnership, LLC, etc.).

"Adult signature required" just means someone 21+ needs to sign for it.  You, a spouse, a neighbor, etc.

I've had a delivery guy (no doubt thinking he was doing me a favor), leave a box with three handguns in it by my front door.  Found it when I got home from work.

Grats, I recommend a K31 for your first purchase. Inexpensive accurate and well made. Plus these actually do seem to be close to drying up

When I first got mine back in the mid 90's, we lived in a condo, bus stop was right in front of our condo. UPS guy would leave them with no signature, leaning against front door.

Now...we own a house and UPS guy at least puts them in our garage. (still doesn't get a signature though)

As has been said, don't sign the original. Make a bunch of copies and use those as needed. Don't fill in anything else on the copy. Not necessary. Find out what dealer's give discounts to FFL and C&R holders and send them a copy.

Prepare to be broke.

Mine makes me un box them in his presence so he can decide if he wants to shoot it before he gets back on the truck.  that bastard.

OTOH, if they need a signature, he handles that for me  as well a quick phone call to tell me where he hid it.

I see that the OP is from IL. I do not know IL state firearms laws. So, I raise the question of long arm possession and whether IL requires any sort of permit for same. In other words, if they do, and the person signing for the rifle doesn't have one, that could be a potential problem.  As I say, I don't know IL law, so this issue may not exist, but one must always obey state and local firearms laws when using the C&R FFL; the FFL does not permit anyone to ignore state or local laws.

As long as they do not open the parcel, no harm no foul (federally speaking...most states have similar laws). Same goes for NFA.  Otherwise the common carrier would technically be "in posession" of said item.
