Quoted: Are they still doing pre-orders on them? Quoted: Quoted: Just pre ordered 5 ![]() Are they still doing pre-orders on them? Looks like all the launch day pre-orders at Amazon are gone. I've had mine pre-ordered since the first day they were accepting them. ~2 months ago or so. |

Anyone who misses the Xmas season by a few days(ahem, MS) is a company seriously in question. The PS4 already has be leaving the Xbox platform. Free to play online, more player capacity, no stupid camera/Kinect.
I'll just have to figure out the damn controller. |

I believe online play on the PS4 requires Playstation Network PLUS. Essentially the same as Xbox Live. |

I think MS will make it by the end of November but they're going to be a lot shorter on supply. They already drastically cut the number of countries they're launching in by 2013 and it was already a tight fit due to some issues that have them further behind and yield issues on top of that (solved by now I hope or believe) while Sony has been manufacturing units for a while now. You bet your ass Xbox One will be out before 2013 at least in North America and Western Europe, but I think it will be a lot harder to get due to those supply issues. Hell, the PS4 will be hard to get too since most of them have already been preordered and Sony was happy to say it already has over 1 million preorders and that's excluding Asia and parts of Europe. They said that was more than the PS2 and PS3 and is quite the impressive number for preorders of a new console so I think they're going to be really hard to find too but at least there will be more them out there than Xbox Ones. I think the last preorder numbers after MS's policy changes has the PS4 outselling the Xbox 3:1 in preorders. I think being the lower price is going to be key for the non-preorder sales too. Not only that, it's actually more powerful and even AMD came out and said that the differences will be noticeable and they worked on both consoles so you know it's pretty bad when they come out and say that. To correct you though, the online is not free anymore due to all the bandwidth some of the new services take up plus the need to provide more dedicated server options to games, so you have to get PS+ which is a little cheaper than XBL Gold but also comes with a shitload of free games. At launch, you'll get a PS+ version of DriveClub and 2 indie games plus discounts and just like the PS3 and Vita, it will be updated with new free shit every month (although it might suck early on due to lack of content). On top of that, all of the apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc. will be free WITHOUT PS+ and all Free-to-Play games won't require PS+ either. I think I'll get the Xbox next year or so when Halo comes out, but Sony has been nailing it since the reveal and has never changed their vision or attempted to screw anyone over. When it comes to exclusives, that's what most dedicated gamers use to decide which console to get and I'm sad that Dead Rising 3 was bought as an exclusive. At least TITANFALL will be on PC.too, but I'm always impressed by Sony's willingness to take risks on new games and they're a lot better to their studios than MS is apparently. You get a good variety of games and they have a lot more first-party studios which pays off since there's never a dull moment. Some people don't like the launch, but inFAMOUS is now supposed to come out in February which isn't too far off and it looks amazing and I know I'll like Killzone 3 at launch along with a bunch of multi-platform games like Watch Dogs, etc. I just think it's a good time to be a gamer. By the way, don't be afraid of the controller because apparently a few major sites that have openly stated they liked the 360 controller more are now saying the new DualShock 4 is the best controller they've ever used regardless of its looks. They said it's a perfect hybrid of the PS3 and 360 controllers by giving you the PS3 layout but the sticks are concave with a lip around the edges making it easier to grip and more like the 360 but better and the back triggers are now actual triggers like the 360 controller as well. On top of that, they even went as far as to add a texture to the back of the controller that makes it easier to hold and less sweaty. Sorry for the rambling since it's late and I'm sedated, but I'm waiting for this download to finish and figured I'd add to that. I'm always a gamer first and foremost and don't blindly support one company over another, but the PS4 is doing it right compared to the PS3's launch while MS seems lost and trying to catch up from all the changes they had to make and trying to win back gamers. I know quite a few 360 only owners that are going PS4 at launch and it's sad to see MS get so confident and out of touch that they're losing dedicated fans. It happens to every major console maker just like Sony was with the PS3: After the PS2, they got overconfident and went in their own direction while ignoring consumers and it had a rough start. Luckily, it turned around and gave us some of the best games this generation. Quoted:

I believe online play on the PS4 requires Playstation Network PLUS. Essentially the same as Xbox Live. You beat me to it. The nice thing though is that PS+ has always given you free games and discounts, etc. so I already had it for 40 bucks a year since the free games were worth it. It sucks to pay for online, but at least you know it's a service that gives you more than just an online fee. I got to play games I never would have even looked at if I didn't have Plus. Not to mention, at launch, you get a PS+ version of DriveClub for free (less cars and tracks but a cheap price to upgrade to full game) and 2 other indie titles right off the bat so it adds more perceived value at launch. On top of that, Sony is more open to F2P games that don't require PS+ at all meaning you can get a lot of fun games for free before ever even buying PS+. I think the list at launch was up to like 6-8 with a lot more coming in the future including my current favorite on PC, WAR THUNDER! I wish MS learned and decided to remove the Gold requirement for Netflix, Hulu, etc. like Sony is doing. For people that are just mostly buying it for other entertainment and the occasional SP game, they shouldn't be forced to spend money on XBL when they're not even using the features. That's something that should always be free. I know MS started giving away a few free games with XBL Gold now, but they've been old games that are extremely cheap anyway so it seems like a lame attempt to say they're doing it too. Hell, I think Sony even had a little fun with them by saying you get Assassin's Creed 3 for free later on PS+ when MS's big announcement was giving away Assassin's Creed 2 for free at E3 expecting huge applause. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all, but they could offer something a little more relevant. At least Dead Rising 2 this month makes sense for them. Man, I can't wait for this generation. As a PC gamer, I've been waiting for new consoles to finally push the boundaries again. |
| I've got 2 Launch Day editions pre ordered. One is the Battlefield 4 package (keeping this one) and the other is just the standard console. Still debating on whether I want to risk the hassle trying to sell the std version or if I should just cancel it. Really curious on quantities being released on release day. |

If it doesn't sell, you can always return to the return policy of where you purchased it.

Quoted: Who the fuck cares! Video games are stupid! Waste of of time! Go outside and do something with your life! Some of us happen to play video games as a means of entertainment or a way to unwind at the end of the day. I happen to play about 30 mins at the end of the day. Why do care what other people do with their free time? |

Activision and ea I can see doing this, but indie devs and the not so big I don't. |

Why do... Oh, I forgot that some adults still play video games. [slinks out of thread] Is the air thin up there on your high horse 13er? Lack of oxygen to the brain would explain the snarky comment. |

Every new crop sucks, it takes years to weed out and ban the losers. Sometimes you never get them all. Or atleast that's what I've been able to gather in my time. Back to The Last Of Us. |
